I had the honor to present the findings from the @Applewomens #Health Study on the associations between early-life #menstrual characteristics and the risk of gestational #diabetes (GDM) using data from a large US cohort at #SPER2024 on Monday.

Early menarche (before age 11) was found to increase the odds of developing GDM in both first and subsequent pregnancies. A prolonged time from menarche to menstrual cycle regularity was also associated with a higher risk of GDM.

We analyzed data from 30,473 participants in the Apple Women’s Health Study, focusing on age at #menarche and time to #cycle #regularity. Here is what we saw.

In our preliminary analysis, we found prenatal concentrations of certain #PFAS were associated with elevated risk of #PCOS and its related characteristics during late-adolescence within a pre-birth cohort in the Boston area.

Exposure to #PFAS during childhood or adulthood has been linked to adverse reproductive outcomes like #PCOS. However, the impact of prenatal PFAS exposure on reproductive health is still unclear. #Research
