Today, I visited Mr Ronald Mujuru at his Harare residence to check on his recovery and emotional wellbeing, a month after the tragic accident that claimed the lives of his wife, Mrs Lillian Maranda-Mujuru, and their five children. I spent time with him, his close relatives and friends, offering comfort and encouragement. I am pleased to note positive progress as he is gradually regaining his appetite, walking confidently, and managing to sit for his examinations. As a mother, I will continue to monitor his condition until he makes a full recovery. Sympathy must not end after burial in these quiet moments of grief, as a nation we stand with him in love, unity and support.

I am delighted to witness the fruits of the Women’s Bush Luncheon I hosted, where the spirit of unity and enterprise gave birth to the Zimbabwe Legacy Empowerment a new women’s savings scheme aimed at promoting financial discipline, innovation, and sustainable investment. The upliftment of women remains close to my heart. It is my wish that those without businesses take the first step, while those already in business continue to grow and reach greater heights. Together as women, let us work hard, remain focused, and uplift one another as we build our nation.

I am honoured to have launched the nationwide First Lady’s Doek Drive initiative a heartfelt celebration of dignity, respect and our cultural identity as women. This programme is about restoring pride, supporting women, and strengthening our values as a nation. Together, we will continue to uplift one another with love, care and unity. A doek and wrapper hold a special place in our African culture. They are more than just clothing they are a symbol of who we are.

I am humbled by the launch of the book “Angel of Hope: Sustainable Philanthropic Interventions,” which documents our shared journey of service through the Angel of Hope Foundation. This recognition reflects collective efforts grounded in hunhu/ubuntu, where we continue to support communities out of love and goodwill, complementing national development initiatives. May we all remain committed to building a more compassionate and inclusive society.

I was honoured to officially open the 2nd UN Tourism Regional Congress on Women Empowerment in Tourism in Africa, held in Victoria Falls. Women must move beyond empowerment and take up leadership positions where key decisions are made. My support for women in tourism through initiatives like Agric4She, Cookout Competitions and Farm to Market Galore is complementary, offered wholeheartedly to uplift communities and create real economic independence. Together, let us break barriers and build a future where African tourism is driven by bold, capable women.

Yesterday at Angel of Hope Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Mbare, I witnessed a deeply moving reunion as Intake 7 met their families. In just weeks, we are seeing remarkable change restored dignity, renewed respect, improved health, sobriety, and the return of loving family bonds once broken. Tears of joy, heartfelt apologies, and embraces of forgiveness filled the room. Hope is being restored, and families are healing. We remain committed to walking this journey of recovery together, leaving no one behind.

I was honoured to meet the newly appointed UN Tourism Secretary-General, Shaikha Al Nowais, as Zimbabwe proudly hosts the 2nd UN Tourism Regional Conference on Women’s Empowerment in Tourism in Africa, in Victoria Falls. Her visit strengthens our shared commitment to tourism that creates jobs and restores hope especially for women, youth and communities whose livelihoods depend on this vital sector. I appreciate UN Tourism’s continued goodwill and support as we build inclusive tourism value chains, including gastronomy tourism, that uplift families and transform lives.

I was delighted to host diplomats for a cookout competition at my Amai’s Kitchen during ZITF, where we shared cooking, culture, and friendship. I sincerely appreciate their participation as we continue to promote unity, heritage, and healthy living. I also had the honour of welcoming His Excellency President Duma Boko of Botswana, who toured the kitchen and observed the cookout alongside my husband, President Mnangagwa, witnessing this vibrant cultural exchange. His visit was a great honour and reflected the spirit of friendship and goodwill shared between our peoples. Also seeing diplomats come together to share traditional cuisines from across the world was truly uplifting, as food continues to speak a universal language of peace and understanding.

During the vibrant ZITF 2026 edition, I had the honour of engaging with women in business and aspiring entrepreneurs. We created a space to connect, learn from one another, and share experiences in an open and meaningful way. It was truly inspiring for me to meet Zimbabwean women who have turned small beginnings into growing and successful businesses. Their resilience, creativity, and hard work continue to stand out. For me, women’s empowerment is not just a slogan. It is a lived reality and a key pillar of national development, built on unity, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose. I encourage us all to continue uplifting one another as mothers, sisters, and daughters. Let us focus on producing quality goods and confidently take our local, organic products to broader markets beyond our borders. I also continued with the Nhanga/Gota/Ixhiba programme, which remains important in nurturing moral values, cultural pride, and responsibility among our youths and children. A disciplined nation is indeed a productive nation.

I was pleased to receive His Excellency Nikolai Krasilnikov, outgoing Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Zimbabwe, as he paid a farewell courtesy call at the end of his tenure. I appreciate the cordial cooperation we have enjoyed, which has helped to advance people-to-people relations between Zimbabwe and the Russian Federation. My office’s support has been complementary and extended in the spirit of goodwill, including initiatives such as children’s cultural exchanges and mutual assistance programmes. I thanked him for his dedicated service and the warm relations he helped to nurture, and I wish him every success in his future endeavours. I look forward to the continued strengthening of friendship between our two nations.

Today, I was honoured to commission the Isizinda Cultural Centre in Maphisa, Matabeleland South a space dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich cultural heritage, identity and values. Preserving our culture is preserving our identity, our pride and our future. When we safeguard our heritage, we empower generations to remain rooted as they grow. In celebrating our diversity, we strengthen our oneness as one united Zimbabwe. This centre will showcase our traditions through authentic architecture, a designed homestead and a performance stage, while promoting arts, tourism and economic development. I reaffirm my commitment to supporting initiatives that empower communities, promote domestic tourism, and nurture our young people through culture and creativity.

It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that I have learnt of the tragic road traffic accident which occurred yesterday along the Bulawayo–Beitbridge Road, claiming the lives of 16 precious souls. As a mother, I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families who have been plunged into unimaginable grief by this devastating loss. No words can truly comfort those who have lost loved ones in such sudden and painful circumstances, but I pray that God grants them strength, peace, and comfort during this difficult time. To the injured, I wish a speedy and full recovery, and I commend the emergency services and medical personnel who responded swiftly and continue to provide care and support to those affected. This tragedy is a painful reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for all road users to exercise utmost caution, responsibility, and respect for traffic laws. As a nation, we must continue to work together to prevent such heartbreaking incidents and protect the sanctity of human life. I join the nation in mourning the departed, and I urge all Zimbabweans to stand in solidarity with the affected families and communities. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.

I was humbled to receive a delegation from the Manicaland business community, who expressed their desire to partner with the Angel of Hope Foundation on our programmes in the province. I am deeply grateful for their pledge and continued support for our work. Their willingness to complement our efforts and replicate our drug rehabilitation programme is truly humbling and reflects a shared spirit of kindness, service, and compassion. Such partnerships are vital in improving lives, strengthening communities, and ensuring that no one is left behind. Together, we continue to uplift lives and build hope across our nation.

Today I once again witnessed both deep sorrow and extraordinary hope at the 7th intake session at the Angel of Hope Drug Rehabilitation Centre. Families arrived carrying the heavy burden of addiction, yet also the courage and determination to seek help for their loved ones. I continue to stand alongside them on this journey. As a mother and grandmother, I offer my support out of compassion and goodwill, working together with our dedicated professionals who tirelessly ease this burden and guide the recovery process. No family should walk this path alone. With patience, support, and collective commitment, healing can and will come. I remain humbled to play my part in restoring hope and rebuilding lives.

I have received with deep sadness and a heavy heart the heartbreaking news of yet another fatal road traffic accident that has claimed the lives of four members of the Dube family along the Harare–Bulawayo Road near Shangani. While the nation is still mourning the tragic passing of Mrs Lilian Mujuru and her five children, this painful loss has once again plunged our country into grief. The late Tumelo Dube (33), a lance corporal attached to the Presidential Guard, his beloved wife, Antonate Sibonginkosi Mashava Dube, and their two innocent children, eight-year-old Itumele and one-year-old Lorisana, lost their lives in this devastating tragedy. This heartbreaking incident serves as a painful reminder of the sorrow and devastation that road traffic accidents continue to bring to Zimbabwean families. As a mother and grandmother, I am deeply moved by this tragedy and the unbearable grief that has fallen upon the Dube and Mashava families. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the extended family, relatives, friends, and all those affected by this loss. May the Almighty God grant strength, comfort, and healing to the bereaved families during this unimaginably difficult time. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.

Today, I brought together religious leaders from all faiths across the country to pray for Mr Ronald Mujuru and his family, as we continue to console him after the loss of his wife and five children. The leaders comforted him through prayer and the Word of God, while songs and dance were performed to lift his spirit. May our united prayers continue to bring comfort, strength, and hope. No one should face grief alone. I sincerely thank all faith leaders for their love and compassion. Together, we stand with the Mujuru family, offering support and solidarity in their time of sorrow. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace.

Today I managed to visit the Mujuru family at their home in Harare to personally convey my heartfelt condolences following the tragic passing of Ronald Mujuru's wife and five children, in a fatal road accident along Harare-Masvingo Highway. As a mother and grandmother, I am still deeply pained by this unimaginable loss and I continue to stand with Mr Mujuru and the entire family, relatives and friends in this moment of profound grief. May the Almighty God continue to grant them strength, comfort and peace, and may our nation unite in prayer and compassion. May the departed dear souls rest in eternal peace.

I have received with deep sorrow and a heavy heart the tragic news of the passing of Mrs Lilian Mujuru and her five beloved children, Nokutenda, Makanaka, Ronald Junior, Rufaro Shalom and little Kayden, who lost their lives in a fatal road traffic accident along Masvingo Road near Mvuma. This is a painful loss beyond words a heartbreaking tragedy that has robbed one family of six precious lives in a single moment. As a mother, grandmother, I am deeply moved by the sorrow that has befallen the Mujuru family, and I extend my sincere condolences to Mr Ronald Mujuru, the bereaved husband and father, as well as to the extended family, friends and the church community. I am imagining the anguish and emptiness that this tragedy has left behind. May the Almighty God grant Mr Mujuru strength and comfort during this unimaginably difficult time, and may the nation stand with him in prayer, compassion and solidarity. I also urge all road users to exercise the utmost caution and responsibility on our roads so that we may prevent such devastating tragedies that continue to claim innocent lives and leave families shattered. May the souls of departed rest in eternal peace.

I was honoured to officiate at the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) Africa Regional Chapter Conference in Harare as Zimbabwe showcases real solutions in sustainable waste management. Waste is not a burden but an opportunity to create jobs, protect health and build a greener economy. Cleaning is life every day. Let us move from dumpsites to dignity and from waste to wealth. Together, Africa can lead the circular economy through innovation, partnerships and strong community action. Every small act of cleanliness counts towards a healthier, greener future.

Yesterday, I launched the Youth Vanguard Movement at the University of Zimbabwe, a transformative platform to prepare, inspire and empower our young people to become responsible, ethical, and action-oriented leaders. This initiative nurtures leadership through mentorship, discipline, and practical skills, while creating opportunities for youths to innovate, serve their communities, and contribute meaningfully to national development. I call on our young people to rise above fear and limitations, embrace responsibility, and take charge of Zimbabwe’s future. Together, we can build a united, empowered, and prosperous nation.
