A new era for workers in global supply chains. The Competence Centre for Human Rights Due Diligence launched today in Berlin — giving unions the tools to turn due diligence laws into real results for workers. Distance is no longer a shield for companies. ✊ @FESonline @dgb_news

💰 FOLLOW THE MONEY: Manicaland Communities Take Action Communities across Manicaland are being empowered 📍 to track, question, and demand accountability in Zimbabwe’s extractive sector through “Follow the Money” trainings facilitated in colaboration with @ZIMCODD1 @cdemlambo Zimbabwe is a resource-rich country, but the numbers tell a troubling story: 💎 ≈ US$6 BILLION in mineral exports annually 💰 Up to US$15 BILLION in diamond revenue reportedly lost ⛏️ ≈ US$1.8 BILLION lost each year through gold smuggling 📊 Mining contributes ~70% of export earnings Yet many mining-affected communities still face: 🚱 Limited access to clean water 🏥 Under-resourced clinics 🏫 Poor infrastructure and schools 🌍 Environmental degradation So… where is the money going? 🤔 Through these trainings, community members are learning to: 🔍 Trace how money flows from extraction → export → government revenue 📉 Identify leakages, corruption risks, and illicit financial flows 📊 Compare what is produced vs what is reported 🗣️ Demand transparency, fair compensation, and inclusive development From Penhalonga, where gold mining has left rivers polluted, to Marange, once the centre of billions in diamond wealth, the call is growing louder: 👉 No more secrecy. No more missing billions. Communities must benefit. This is about shifting power ⚖️from extraction without accountability to people-centered resource governance. #FollowTheMoney #Manicaland #Zimbabwe #Extractives #Accountability #Transparency #NaturalResources @FiaZimbabwe @euinzim @BROT_furdiewelt @Commercial2023 @Mining_Zimbabwe @MinersZmf @MineralsMarket1 @ZimdiamondW @MinistryMines

Zimbabwe Environmental Law Organisation (ZELO)
Seed laws such as Zimbabwe’s Seeds Act and the pending update to the Plant Breeders’ Rights Act are changing how seed can be saved, shared, and sold. Meanwhile, the National Agriculture Policy Framework (2019–2030) promotes inclusive and resilient seed systems. Therefore, farmers need to understand how these laws affect their work. That’s why the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Organisation (ZELO) was in Bubi District last week, partnering with the Agricultural and Rural Development Advisory Services (ARDAS) and smallholder farmers for a training on climate-smart cash crops and seed law. Through practical demonstrations and seed law education, farmers are learning not only how to increase yields, but also how to protect their rights, sustain local seed systems, and support national climate-smart agriculture goals. #SeedRights #CSA #Agroecology @ManeleMpofu @ClimateZimDept @TMapooze @CAID_Zimbabwe @ngonisesemani @ShamisoMtisi

🚨 Breaking News Another Life Lost in Penhalonga’s Bloody Gold Fields A community tragedy has struck again in Penhalonga. Reports from our monitors confirm that an artisanal miner was brutally stabbed to death by a colleague during a fight over gold ores, on 26 August 2025. The suspected killer fled in a Toyota RunX but was blocked by alert security. He abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot. In fury, residents torched the car, a sign of growing community anger at the lawlessness consuming Redwing Mine. This killing is not an isolated incident. It is the latest in a wave of violence, lawlessness, and death at Redwing Mine, where unregulated artisanal mining is taking place under the sponsorship of #BetterBrands, owned by ZANU PF politician @ScottSakupwanya Penhalonga has become a killing field because of political protection, corporate greed, and a deliberate collapse of regulation. Communities continue to pay with their blood while elites profit. More to follow... @InfoMinZW @Mining_Zimbabwe @ZimdiamondW @ministrymineszw
