Work produced by all five has been criticized or removed from streaming services for racism. However, many of those involved in the British comedy world (such as Baddiel, his brother Ivor, Popper, Baron-Cohen, the producer of Whose Line is it Anyway/Mock the Week, Dan Patterson, and his colleague in both shows, Mark Leveson) also credit a little known Zionist youth group - Habonim Dror - as playing a role in their success.  The Jewish Chronicle reported that Lucas was a Habonim alumnus. He subsequently clarified the was a member of RSY-Netzer, which was, however, also signed up to the racist ideology of Zionism, through formal membership of the Zionist Federation and thus the World Zionist Organisation. We don’t learn to hate Israelis in school, whoever thinks that is wrong. But imagine a child growing up under occupation. Imagine him standing every day for hours in checkpoints. Interesting fact: Stats suggest 15-20% of Israel’s population speak Russian.

While many early Zionist immigrants also came from the Russian Empire in the late 1800s and early 1900s, they arrived in much smaller numbers and their families gradually adopted Hebrew as the country's common language. The 1990s immigrants largely arrived as adults, continued speaking Russian at home, and built thriving Russian-speaking communities, which is why Russian remains so widely spoken in Israel today.

@ZingerMagazine The first handful of Israeli PMs were born in the old Russian empire. Zionism started in Austro-Hungary which was an ally of Russia at the time. That was a few years before WW1.
