This is an unimaginable level of gaslighting from someone who has celebrated, promoted, and normalized the ideology and language that results in exactly this. Jews have privately and publicly begged you to repudiate it, for exactly this reason. Over and over, you have refused.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

The attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan is horrifying. My thoughts are with the congregation and all who are shaken by this act of antisemitic violence. I am continuing to closely monitor the situation. Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD will continue to deploy high-visibility patrols to Jewish religious and cultural institutions across the five boroughs.

There’s no higher goal for me than ensuring people feel safe where they live, work, and worship. That’s why our administration is fully committed to combating antisemitism in all its forms, and why I’m proud to announce that my upcoming budget proposal will preserve historic funding for hate crime protection grants. Thank you to @JCRCgw for your partnership in this work.

9/9 Our critiques and concerns about Mayor-elect Mamdani are a direct reaction to his stated views and positions––not, in any way, his identity or his faith. We wish Mayor-elect Mamdani only the best as he takes the helm of New York City, knowing that his success is our collective success. And we hope he will lead in the way he has promised––which would require a complete reversal of his deeply held and long-stated beliefs about the Jewish community and our miraculous liberation movement, Zionism.

8/9 The Jewish people are acutely aware that any form of prejudice is dangerous for our society and our world. The xenophobia and Islamophobia directed at Muslim Americans, particularly over the last several decades, has been horrifying. We recognize that for many Muslim Americans, Mamdani’s victory is a joyful turning point and a moment to celebrate. Representation matters, and Muslim Americans make up a significant population of New York City. We are genuinely happy for those who are seeing themselves, for the first time, reflected in the leadership of the world’s most consequential city.

1/9 Yesterday, New Yorkers elected a Mayor who has not only embraced anti-Zionism, but made it the centerpiece of his political identity. This is not about foreign policy. It is about the leader of a city with a million Jews proudly aligning himself with movements and policies that dehumanize them. Mayor-elect Mamdani has made clear that anti-Zionism is not a passing position for him, but his foundational creed.

Today’s attack on Charlie Kirk is absolutely horrifying and heartbreaking. He fought with words not weapons. There is no place for political violence in our society and those responsible must be swiftly brought to justice. My prayers are with Charlie’s loved ones, the traumatized students at Utah Valley University and all who have been impacted by this senseless act.

Zioness is outraged and deeply disturbed by the assassination of Charlie Kirk. We send our most profound condolences to his family, and our hearts break for his young children. No one — regardless of political affiliation or worldview — should fear for their life for showing up to speak, organize, or participate in public discourse. We are terrified by this continuing escalation of political violence, and we stand firmly against it in all forms, against all victims. This shooting is part of a devastating pattern: gun violence continues to spiral out of control in this country. America leads the developed world in gun-related homicides, yet we remain paralyzed by a refusal to act to save lives. There have already been 46 school shootings this year alone. Americans cannot be expected to live like this! We urgently need bold, bipartisan action to address this epidemic. Gun violence does not distinguish between left and right — and neither should our outrage or our solutions.

Zioness remains committed to fighting for an America that is inclusive, equitable, and safe for Jews and all marginalized people. Welcoming hate speech targeting any minority into any movement is an appalling moral failure. The American people deserve infinitely better. 10/10

And it is not difficult for leaders –– whose job is to lead with integrity and moral clarity –– to stand with Jewish Americans in this moment of rising antisemitism and reject hate and violence unequivocally. 9/10

.@DNC Chair Ken Martin committed moral & political malpractice by responding to concerns about the “globalize the intifada” — a call for violence against Jews — by claiming Dem Party should “celebrate” its “big tent” and “differences of opinion” to “win through addition.” 1/10

WATCH: Asked about Zohran Mamdani’s refusal to condemn the “globalize the intifada” slogan, DNC chair Ken Martin says Democrats are “a big tent party.”
