it was implied that ragatha was with friends when she put the headset on and popped into the circus. why was she the only one? it couldnt have just been her trying it on

To be fair, he may not be dead, but stuck in a sort of feedback loop. Kinger mentions when his wife abstracted, the darkness calmed her right?
It's entirely possible it might be repairable and Caine just didn't know how.
