@tylergilfoster I think its perfectly fine for a movie to have different release years depending on what country you're in, but festival screenings shouldn't count. Obsession wasn't eligible to be nominated for any major awards in 2025 because it didn't actually release in 2025.

I can't be the only one who thinks this system is correct. If the movie played in 2025 then that's when it came out and I am always baffled by people who struggle with this. Is not not easier just to make personal exceptions to the times when wide release is the year later?

Hate how Letterboxd counts festivals as when a movie released because I feel like it’s trying to gaslight me into thinking Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die and Obsession are 2025 movies because twenty people or whatever saw them last year.
