@archaeologyEAA conference in Rome. All participants are somewhat linked with Archaeology at the University of Sheffield and everybody was in disbelief that the university management could get away with the act of cultural vandalism of closing our department (continues in replies

Make no mistake -although we could eventually not save the whole department, our battle to save Archaeology was a triumph as we exposed injustice, maintained integrity and gained respect from all over the world, while those responsible for our closure were just covered in shame.

Though we are looking forward to this new chapter, we will continue to fight for our university, for the discipline of archaeology and against the war on culture that has been pervading the UK and the rest of the world.

A Department whose contribution to the world of research has been and continues to be huge. From today we are no longer part of the Dept. of Archaeology and we will join wonderful colleagues at the School of Biosciences.

Congratulations to our wonderful @tracyplatts!! Here she is after her PhD examination with examiners Gianna Ayala & @jimbonesmorris & with her boyfriend @justarchaeology. Tracy's work makes us understand a lot more about the geography of Roman butchery. @UniShefArch
