Just caught the final screening of #Zootopia2 at my local theater after 103 straight days on the big screen. I promised myself I’d be there from day one to the very end, and I did. Words can’t even explain what this whole experience meant to me.

@PineappleDestr1 Couldn't agree more. The case mostly resolves itself through plot conveniences. But it's still true that the tiny bit of actual deduction there was to do, Judy did it.

@ZootopiaLog Judy does not solve that much herself... barely anything. Most was thrown at her, or lore-dumped

@PineappleDestr1 Wasn't just Marsh Market. Look at the carrot pen scene: the movie frames Nick as solely responsible, making only him feel guilty for what was a mutual disconnect. Sometimes the script was just unfairly biased against him. But hey, in the spirit of the movie: agree to disagree!

@ZootopiaLog I guess we have to agree to disagree. All those "terrible" things happening to him were basically in the Marsh Market. And I am not bothered by them, because there was good reason for this depiction. He was out of his element, and he was forced to grow. Which he did

@PineappleDestr1 I’m not ignoring his growth at all. Contrary to what you think about me idolizing Z1 Nick, seeing him evolve despite the script treating him terribly is exactly why I actually prefer Z2 Nick. I love the character, I just dislike how the writers used him.

@PineappleDestr1 Never wanted a Mary Sue! Their imperfections are literally the core of this film, and what make them perfect to me. My point is that Nick was a victim of constant mistreatment throughout the film, and instead of being funny, it just made me feel bad for him.

@PineappleDestr1 We just disagree on the "how". For me, masking that deep emotional panic with cheap gags and making him the butt of the joke undermines his character's intelligence. You see the execution differently, and that's fair. We can agree to disagree on that

@JakeDysonXXX_B @PineappleDestr1 Looks like we actually agree on the "why". His priorities shifted, his fear of losing his only "pack" is 100% valid, and his psychological arc makes total sense. I mean, I genuinely understand Nick on a personal level, having lived through similar situations where fear takes over

@JakeDysonXXX_B @PineappleDestr1 If his #1 priority is her survival and she won't quit, a hustler's brain goes into overdrive to solve it faster and get her out. Instead, the writers made him passively complain while she did all the detective work. Beautiful motive, lazy execution.

@JakeDysonXXX_B @PineappleDestr1 You're exactly right: listening to Mr. Big and wanting to run IS street smart. I'll give you that 100%. But once Judy ignores him and pushes forward, whining and doing the "Rick Wilde" gag doesn't keep her safe.

@JakeDysonXXX_B @PineappleDestr1 Changing for love makes sense. His priority shifted to protecting Judy, and being terrified of losing his 'pack' is 100% valid. But love changes priorities, not IQ. A street fox protecting her should become sharper and more calculating, not a dumbed-down passive gag
