Well that’s a wrap for the Ex Wirra Jaya 2019 MPC. We’re all excited about the upcoming excercise and the chance to operate and build on our fantastic relationship with the TNI AD. @_5RAR@HQ_1Bde
On Saturday, I was proud to attend the presentation of new regimental colours to the 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. #OurPeople continue to carry forward the traditions, commitment, professionalism & dedication of the regiment. #GoodSoldiering
#OurHistory Yesterday @_5RAR received new Colours. 📸 A bird’s eye view of the Colours draped over the drum head alter before being consecrated, blessed & dedicated by the Principal Chaplains & then presented to the Regiment by the Governor-General 🇦🇺 #DutyFirst@AustralianArmy
Congratulations to the newly promoted MAJ Brett Edmonds. Promoted by the Governor General and his fiancé tonight in front of the new @_5RAR Battalion colours. That’s one to remember! @HQ_1Bde
It’s not every day the Colonel Commandant of the Royal Australian Regiment, MAJGEN Mark Kelly AO DSC (retd), is on hand to present the Australian Defence Medal. Well done PTE Doolan (Recon Pl) - just in time for the Change of Colours parade tomorrow! @RARAssn@_5RAR
The Tiger Tribe Day was a great opportunity for families and friends of the 5th Battalion to meet each other and have a bit of fun too...apparently big and little kids like to have their face painted. #DutyFirst#GoodSoldiering
Nice shot from the Javelin shoot by @_5RAR DFSW PL as part of Exercise Tigers Walk at Mount Bundey Training Area. The Platoon progressed through some excellent training over two weeks on the Mag 58, .50 cal HMG, 84mm MDFSW, MK47 AGL and Javelin.
It is with great sadness we share with you the passing of the 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment Mascot CPL Quintus Rama on 02 May 2019 at 17 years of age. Rest in Peace CPL Rama your duty is done.

The Brigade’s first BUSHMASTER driver course of the year concludes this week. Great initiative from the instructors today to complete a DP familiarisation, increasing trainees understanding of the tactical requirements for their new role. #ArmyInMotion#BrilliantAtTheBasics
A great opportunity for the Battalion and Brigade’s junior leaders this week with Ken Murray, expert in reality based training, coming to Darwin to talk training methodology. Thanks to AHQ for providing the opportunity. #ArmyInMotion#DutyFirst
Ex CARBON PREDATOR concluded with a Rehearsal of Concept drill for Battle Group TIGER. The mud model, whilst a little old school, is still the best way to help visualise the battle space. #ArmyInMotion#DutyFirst
CO’s PT on Friday was an @AustralianArmy birthday present focused on preparing our soldiers physically and mentally, as well as a bit of tug-of-war fun at the end. A PTI’s interpretation of ‘birthday present’ is an interesting one... #ArmyInMotion#DutyFirst
Combat behaviours were the focus this week, with the Tiger Battalion using the Combat Skills Development Area to combine urban operations with simulated munitions (Airsoft) and Army First Aid training. Throw in the Darwin humidity, and physical conditioning is a big part too!!!
Nothing like a few Mortar Platoon line drills and some stomping around with base plates and mortar tubes on a beautiful Darwin morning to start the day. @_5RAR@5rar_RSM@HQ_1Bde
A great opportunity to recognise some fantastic junior leaders in the Tiger Battalion. Congratulations to CPL Fisher, CPL Marshall and LCPL Joseph-Anton on being awarded the Australia Day Medallion. #ArmyInMotion#DutyFirst
