Also we are forever in debt to Matthew Albert of the Vic Bar whose tireless work took this case from a shopfront Tribunal in Alice Springs to a victory in the High Court. His immense skill and dedication represents all that is good in the profession. We cannot thank you enough.

It's important to celebrate the wins because they're hard fought. Congratulations Laramba community residents and @_ALRAR_. This is long overdue. "Aboriginal community of Laramba feels safe to drink tap water now uranium levels are within guidelines" abc.net.au/news/2023-04-3…

And here's the feature I wrote for The Guardian (featuring photos by @IsabellaMMoore) published before the decision was made to build the filtration system. PWC remains one of the most secretive organisations I've encountered. theguardian.com/australia-news…

And then it took multiple reports before the decision was finally taken to address the problem. There are still questions raised by my reporting that were never answered: like where did all the money go for the PWC subsidiary that was supposed to deal with this?

@abc730 @GrataFund @WHO In 2020, the initial decision of the NTCAT was a landlord is not responsible for water delivered to the premises. We sought internal review of this decision, and while still under review, the NT announced $28M in funding for 10 communities, including Laramba, to fix water issues.

@abc730 @GrataFund @WHO There remains about 25 applications from Laramba before NTCAT, dealing with other housing issues and basic issues of habitability. Three were determined in January, with 2 households receiving compensation. These matters are now also on appeal, and will be heard later this year.

@abc730 @GrataFund @WHO Laramba residents continue to maintain that the NT government was obligated to provide them with safe drinking water, and for many years refused to do so.
