Motorists in Windhoek were left stunned after a group of Angolan street vendors were seen bathing and washing their clothes in public following a burst water pipe near the circle intersection opposite Hartlief and Meatco. According to Linda Katyoka, one of the individuals at the scene, the group noticed water leaking from the damaged pipe and used the opportunity to bathe and wash their clothes. “We did not know that we were not allowed to bathe there. Where we stay, we do not have water and do not get the opportunity to bathe,” Katyoka explained to the NBC team. The incident attracted attention from members of the public, prompting officers from the City of Windhoek Police to intervene. Police instructed the individuals to get dressed immediately, explaining that bathing in public was inappropriate and damaging to the image of the city.
