Number of Female MPs: - LPC: 68 (40%) - CPC: 26 (18%) - BQ: 5 (23%) - NDP: 4 (57%) - GPC: 1 (100%) The Liberals elected twice as many women as all other parties combined, you want us to believe 2 extra female ministers is bad and the CPC is a meritocracy that empowers women? 🙄
Jasmin Laine@JasminLaine_

Mark Carney has—just like Trudeau—rejected the idea of having a merit based cabinet, and will be again, including DEI practices by making sure 50% of his ministers are women. This reminded me of an incredibly powerful moment from @AnaPoilievre & @PierrePoilievre when I had the opportunity to chat about conservative women and common misconceptions. Meritocracy yields results—and yes, there are a ton of incredible women across all parties… but who do you think the women will be on Mark Carney’s Liberal cabinet picks? Likely the same ministers who under Justin Trudeau, absolutely failed their portfolios and caused the mess we’re in. As Ana says, Pierre surrounds himself with incredible women, not because of their gender… but because they are kick ass at what they do.

The backstory here is that the Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of this land a century ago. They sued, got their land back, and used their sovereignty to ignore local zoning rules and build 6,000 new homes over the objections of nearby NIMBYs.

I just sat through the entire 2-hour and 23-minute @joerogan Experience interview with @PierrePoilievre you don't have to. ⏱️ Yes, I survived the deep dives into Russian kettlebell history, 90s kickboxing, and Bobby Orr's knees to extract the actual political substance. Between the MMA tangents, Poilievre dropped a bunch of claims. Some are actually spot-on (yes, it happens even with Poilievre), some are missing massive context, and a couple directly contradict his own record. I’m bringing the receipts. 🧾 Over the next 5 posts, we are going to reality-check: 🔍 The Top 3 biggest testable claims 🩴 2 major political flip-flops Buckle up. Thread below 🧵👇

@CanadianJordan8 @SPhillipsAB Yeah, a lot of Joe ranting… my favourite was the classic JRE trope of railing against seeds oils, specifically calling out canola oil, as Pierre nods along without a defence for Canada’s canola oil producers.

The Canadian approval for Keystone XL was completed in a little more than a year, 15 years ago. It has been rejected, rejected, approved, rejected, and approved again in the US since that time. It remains unbuilt. It's proponent, TC Energy, explains why it's Canada's fault.

And before you say “They addressed Trump’s 51st State comments!” ☝️…. … yes, and Pierre’s only comment about Trump directly was that it was ‘a crazy thing to say’ and he’d wish the President would ‘knock it off’. Milquetoast, at best.

So the Joe Rogan thing didn't move the needle for me. Same old Pierre. I do not find him remotely appealing and it's difficult to look past that. And there were places he should have pushed back on Joe but didn't. But he's a partisan guy so it doesn't surprise me.

@mikethenavyguy And this guy didn’t exist 5 minutes, 5 days, 5 weeks, or 5 months before this interview. There’s no guarantee he’ll exist after this interview either. A 2 hour softball interview doesn’t erase 20 years of him showing us who he truly is.

@stphnmaher Poilievre couldn’t help but suggest that people blaming climate change on cattle farming is the reason cattle herds are so low… not a mention of the drought conditions that actually led to low cattle herds sizes. @CanCattle I hope you’ll set MP Poilievre straight on this issue.
