What up. My name is Fr. Justin, and I'm Black, Catholic, and proud. Here you will find one man's experience & expression of being an African American Catholic, Latin Rite. I'm down with @Pontifex, the Magisterium & spreading the Faith of the Church. I'm a Catholic priest as well.

This is one of my fav videos to watch. The Maronite words of consecration - spoken in Aramaic, the very same language of Christ. Whenever I feel anxious or just need to hear something beautiful, I return to this. Holy Thursday felt like the right time to share this again. Take 2 mins today. Let it wash over you🕊️

Before the same people who saw me get ordained, I laid down before them again within my heart and make this nuptial renewal of vows that is very, very meaningful and special. Also, I got a seat up towards the front of the priest. Can you spot me? 👀😃✝️

We renew these promises personally but we also renew our promises to the people. We renew our commitment, our love, our appreciation for the people by what we do. I began my priestly vocation by laying physically on the ground. This past Tuesday I did that again in my heart.

This past Holy Tuesday of Holy Week attended my first Chrism Mass as a priest and renewed my priestly promises made on the day of my ordination a little over half a year ago along with my other diocesan priest brothers. It was a momentous occasion.

"Come out from sin. Come out from fear. Come out from doubt. Come out from shame. Come out from despair. Come out from the lies. Come out from the world, the flesh, and the devil. And you shall rise, for He says, 'I will open your graves and have you rise from them.'”

My homily this weekend: "He who raised Lazarus from the dead [will] come stand outside your human hearts. And as our Lenten penances join forces to roll back the stones of our sins, He will shout out your name and say, 'Come out!'” theblackcatholic.com/homily-for-the…

An emotional moment when a young girl bids her family and friends goodbye to join the cloistered Carmelite Nuns. Religious life is indeed a life of total sacrifice.

“Grant, we pray, almighty God, that by Saint Joseph’s intercession your Church may constantly watch over the unfolding of the mysteries of human salvation, whose beginnings you entrusted to his faithful care." - Collect for the Mass of the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary

Happy St. Joseph Day! St. Joseph is both my personal Patron when I was confirmed into the Church in 2013 and one of the Patrons of my BLACKCATHOLIC apostolate! He is also a Patron of my home diocese of Nashville.

The parishioners were slow to arrive for Holy Mass, so I myself had to ring the bell to call them to hasten. In the sacred liturgy of the Church, time is to be treated with great reverence and punctuality.

This particular event will continue to be one of my greatest highlights of the pontificate of Pope Francis. It was in the year 2020, in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pope Francis, 83, slightly bent, limping, weak, and frail, walked up the stairs of St Peter's Square, stood alone on the rainy and deserted ground of St Peter's Square, and prayed for an end of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that instant, he exemplified his name, Papa (fathe) - Father of the whole world. Never to be forgotten.

The last public appearance of Pope Francis before his death. He came out on the balcony of St Peter's to greet the crowd during the Angelus Prayer on Easter Sunday. He died early the next morning, on Easter Monday. May his soul continue to rest in peace🙏🏿

Pope Francis’ final Ash Wednesday message included a quote from Saint Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” May we remember to pray for his eternal rest 💜🙏

I celebrated four Ash Wednesday Masses, and over 4,000 parishioners came forward to receive ashes and many walking more than 5 km to attend the Mass. I am quite worn out and exhausted. Please keep me - and all priests - in your prayers.
