@Vivek4real_ People who over use the "Vocal Fry" speech style think it makes them sound more intelligent. It's actually a sign of someone who is overconfident and incompetent.

Many have lost the ability to create something that breaks out of the box a bit. They lack understanding of things like when to add ceremony to a game, how to work creatively with design constraints, when "spectable" is absolutely required. How to add humor with gameplay/ implementation/ timing.

There are many designers and developers in the west that truly don't understand Japanese games and the type of passion needed to make something similar. These idea guys have created massive books full of rules that only work because they THINK that's how games should be made. It's very annoying to talk to these people.

western gamedev mentality has this obsession with adhering to the core experience that I think is harming creativity. Whenever I see jp indie dev make games there's a lot more of "Oh i just put this in here because I like it" but the same things would get shot down in the west

@uaivito We would call on landline phones to coordinate meeting up. Then we rode bikes to each other’s houses. Didn’t really talk much on the phone because it tied up the line.

Look at the patterns of what sony has done in relation to Japanese developers. I think most of there bad decisions stemmed from when Sony of America was running operations. ( from california ) they made horrible decisions for the company overall that focused in the west too much. Sony is slowly shifting back to decisions being made in tokyo. Lets pray things improve.

Funimation being bought out and absorbed into Crunchyroll is one of the biggest downfalls of the Western anime industry. Crunchy still doesn’t have the entirety of Funi’s back catalogue on streaming Rightstuf is DEAD And Crunchy has significantly slowed down on physical media
Josh Cajun Samurai@KhakiBlueSocks

Even with its faults, Funimation was a company that put a lot of love and respect into each and every license and product they aquired. They also introduced the S.A.V.E Complete Collection sets, which allowed fans to buy the shows they love while on a budget.

Video Game History Lesson- Many people actually liked Wind Waker on launch even though many did initially complain when the game was first shown and announced. Nintendo led us to believe we were getting a very detailed and DARK Zelda. They teased several times, a visual direction that was very mature, specific and impressive. This felt like a natural progression from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Basically, the initial reveal of Wind Waker was a massive failure because of the hype Nintendo built up. By the time the game was released, however, many people had changed their minds. Sales were still kind of low, not just because of the expectation of the darker Zelda game that Nintendo teased and never launched, but also because Game Cube as a system wasn't performing that well. Game Cube was fighting an uphill battle against the perception that the console was for kids. By 2002, Nintendo hadn't even broken half a million Game Cubes sold in America. The PS2 was outperforming due to their strong third party support and more mature games for gamers that were growing up. Despite Game Cube underperforming as a console, and Nintendo rug pulling a darker Zelda game to deliver a cartoony one... the game actually still managed to sell almost 5 million copies. ( still under Ocarina of Time's 7.6 mill ) By 2003- nearly HALF of Game Cube owners had bought Wind Waker.

@rotciVArt Once the game came out, the complaints died. The complaints came when people thought they were getting something like the tech demo... but then suddenly a cartoon look was announced. As far as I remember, the final game was pretty well loved.
