A momentous day today as we had the first lot of gallops on the newly resurfaced course proper. Included in the gallops is the @Timfitz16Racing trained Onesmoothoperator who is targeting the G2 Blamey Stakes this Saturday. 🚨 Emergency support for Horses 🚨 If you are in need of emergency support for stabling your horses the BJC has the tie up yards available for your convenience. These aren’t an enclosed box though. The team spent the day out at @ThreeBridges1 for their Christmas break up! The hospitality was great and the team enjoyed learning about their up and coming 2yo for the @mmsnippets sales in early 2026.

Hi Robert, thanks for the feedback. It had been 27 years since a renovation of this size & despite it looking great, for the track to be sustainable for the next 20 years, it was necessary. We had a substantial amount of poa grass within the surface that impacts performance of the track. This would be noticeable during the cooler/wet months & lead to increase kick back. The kikuyu grass will knit the surface together better & we will eventually over sow with a rye grass so it will look and perform as good as it has done over many years. Hope that helps? Thanks

The first lot of turf has been laid as the Evergreen Turf team now make their way down the home straight. Approx. 66,000sq/m of turf is to be laid with these works likely to be completed by next Friday.

A week is a long time in racing! This time last week we were running our @ladbrokescomau Bendigo Cup Day. Today - it is all being ripped up. Thanks to the support from @VicGovAu, @RacingVictoria, @Country_Racing, along with a contribution from the BJC, we are undertaking a course proper resurfacing project, 27 years after its last major upgrade. We look forward to a return to racing at The Nursery of Champions on 27 March 2026.
