"I sacked him" wasn't the interesting part. "Ask Ken what he did" was the insinuation. So, if you like to answer questions and not ignore them, here's the obvious follow-up: What exactly did Ken Hinkley do that week that justifies you sacking him, and why are you only choosing to allude to it now, 20yrs later, on the week he's been appointed Tasmania's inaugural coach?

For someone who spends all their time criticising others, this is a proper shit look. Even for you. You've taken potshots at Hinkley throughout the whole process, questioning why he'd even be considered. Now that he's landed the job, you reach back to when you were relevant 20 years ago with, "I sacked him... ask Ken what he did." If you've got something to say, say it & own it. Otherwise It's just a gutless attempt to throw shade at him.

Essendon should go after Jack Gunston and/or Mitch Lewis in a potential Merrett trade. Caddy needs help and the team in general desperately needs quality experienced players

EXCLUSIVE | Ben King is poised to complete one of the most dramatic contract backflips in recent #AFL history, with the Gold Coast spearhead set to reject the Suns’ long-term offer and instead nominate Hawthorn as his preferred destination for 2027 theage.com.au/sport/afl/ben-…

@daicoszn Hawthorn aren't going after Butters any more. So you can take him out of the equation. The other 3 we could definitely fit in, but Humphrey is unlikely. The likely outcome is we bring in King & Merrett, which we can do easily.

You've missed my point. I know where they play. The argument isn't about starting positions or disposals, it's about what setup maximises each player. Lewis pushes higher because Gunston is the better & more dynamic deeper forward. That doesn't mean Lewis is a better high half-forward option. His best football is as a genuine key forward coming out at the ball inside 50. That said, King is a better deep key forward than Lewis, and Gunston is a better connector/roaming half forward than Lewis. King + Gunston is therefore a better balanced combination. King, Lewis and Gunston won't work together. That's where the structure, ball movement and forward pressure breakdowns start. One would have to go and that's Lewis IMO. Time will tell though hey?

@_BrettL_ @Jwt0210 Mate actually look at the way King and Gunston play. They play the EXACT same role. This is not an opinion it is simply an undeniable fact. Lewis almost doubles Kings disposals has 4.5x as many tackles, 3x as many inside 50s, double the ground ball gets. Lewis plays up the groud

Just a reminder that Lewis kicking 5 against 18th placed Richmond doesn't mean we don't need Ben King. Lewis and King can co-exist in the same forward line. King plays as the deep forward and Lewis plays the traditional CHF role. Gunston is also 34,000 years old.

@Bombers_Boss Ridley is contracted to 2029. Force him to see it out like you have with Merrett. That list management theory of Essendons seems to be working wonders.

A fit and engaged Ridley is still an elite player…he looks destined to head north, but is there a chance he hangs around? He was fist pumping on the bench yesterday. Merrett engaged too, but he’s 100% gone.

That's where we disagree. The best combination is King/Gunston, not King/Lewis or King/Lewis/Gunston. King is a better No.1 key forward than Lewis. Gunston is a better roaming forward than Lewis who can push high, link play and complement a genuine spearhead, better than Lewis. Playing all three would be ridiculous. The structure becomes too tall, the ball movement more predictable, and the forward pressure suffers—especially when adding Chol or a resting ruck. That's why the clean list management move is King in, Lewis out.

@_BrettL_ @Jwt0210 What role does Lewis play?..... the exact same role he is playing right now while gunston is in the side. Gunston is almost always one kick deeper than Lewis in buoldup play. Once the ball is near inside 50 they coordinate their leads to create space for eachother.

If King is replacing Gunston, what role does Lewis play while all three are in the side? King and Lewis are both genuine No.1 key forwards. They both best as the primary aerial target, occupy similar inside-50 space and attack the same leading lanes. Gunston complements that role because he is more dynamic & links play better. Play all three and someone has to sacrifice their natural game and that's where the domino effect starts. Either Gunston is pushed deeper, or King/Lewis are pushed higher. That changes Hawthorn's ball movement, forward entries and comes at the expense of ground-level pressure. From a list management perspective, the cleaner transition is King replacing Lewis, then when Gunston retires, you introduce Dear, Schubert or McCabe into the complementary role.

@_BrettL_ @Jwt0210 Also Lewis absolutely plays that high half forward role. That's literally what he does right now in our side. He just isn't as good at it as Jeremy Cameron.... because no one does it as good as Jeremy Cameron
