Llevo desde el inicio del mundial en Argentina y desde que llegué llevo escuchando en medios que hay una campaña internacional contra Argentina para perjudicarla en el mundial y vincularlos con el racismo, todo el mundo lo da por hecho, pero nunca vi un dato. Así que me animé. En términos generales la conversación sobre Argentina en los últimos 90 días no hay grandes diferencias entre la etapa antes del mundial y posterior, ambos periodos tienen aproximamente el doble de conversación negativa que positiva, esa brecha se redujo en los días antes del mundial y fase de grupo y volvió a aumentar en los primeros partidos de eliminatorias, volvió a acercarse en la semifinal y casi iguala en la final, para de nuevo volver a ser el doble tras la final. El pico de mayor conversación negativa fue mucho antes del mundial. La conversación negativa total aumentó un 1,5% desde que comenzó el mundial.

Great thread. To which I would add that there was no Trump or Milei in office in 2022. No genocide in Gaza, or Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir loudly backing Argentina in 2022 either. So yeah, things change. Messi remains one of the greatest to play the game but Argentina were legitimately loathed by a lot of people in this World Cup, social media algorithms aside, for reasons outlined in the thread below and by me above. As an England fan whose team were knocked out by Argentina, I obviously wanted to see Argentina lose despite my admiration for Messi as a player.

The Argentinians' claim to the Falklands is so funny because they are basically descendants of European settlers who refuse to accept that the descendants of other European settlers (living on islands 500 km off the coast of Argentina) can choose for themselves which flag they actually want to live under. cuando me tuve que ir de Argentina, mucha gente que yo no conocía de nada salió a decirme: "No te vayas, vos sos importante para el país. Yo te ayudo". Y si yo rechacé la ayuda era precisamente porque no conocía a esa gente. Gente de migraciones, de escribanías, gente con la que hacía ciertos trámites preparando mi vuelta. Y un amigo al que conocí tres meses antes de tener que volver a Chile me re puteó cuando se dio cuenta de que había vuelto. No me arrepiento, volver me sirvió para crecer. Pero guardo como un hermoso recuerdo a toda esa gente ofreciéndome ayuda, a mí, a una chilena que no conocían de nada. Argentina es grande y buena, amorosa y abrazadora (si es que la palabra existe). Siempre amaré Argentina con mi alma, con mi vida, con mi corazón. Siempre.
