So… we’re expected to believe that in California, out of three candidates, the third place candidate, who conceded her campaign because she was mathematically eliminated from the run-off, suddenly received tens of thousands of votes from mail-in votes which all came in *after* Election Day, while the other two candidates received no late mail-in votes, and the second place candidate (who was surging as a Republican candidate in the bluest state in the country) is now in third place and mathematically eliminated from the run-off.
… and we’re supposed to trust that this is an honest and true election.
If you’re not angry about this, you need to be.

I was willing to chalk up Raman's comeback to 1) organic support, as evidenced by LAT poll 2) breaking late due to Gov. uncertainty, DSA push, etc. 3) coupled with well-organized but legal "harvesting" operation. Then I read Callahan's tweet, which if true suggests that maybe bogus ballots were counted. Needs to be investigated.

@HeatherMyersTV I’m all for independent, transparent investigations. But as we’ve seen in Riverside Co and Fulton Co, Republicans have shown that’s not really in their interest.
But I think that’s a completely different conversation than QTing a guy plugging something into an AI algorithm

I actually agree with Trump. Rare case where walk-off is appropriate. She kept interrupting, and Cali elections are a sham. It can’t be acceptable to a journo that “state and local officials said.” She should ask Gavin Newsom about how Cali counts votes.

@ginamilan_ In that example, which has been reviewed before — the ballot would not be verified and the voter would be contacted. The law allows for a witnessed mark for someone unable to sign. This does not appear to indicate an inability to sign. It did not count.

That is some wild, unhinged stuff from the President. Welker is a good person and honest journalist and didn’t deserve that but more importantly we have a president who constantly pushes conspiracy theories with zero evidence and can’t respond when politely challenged on that.

can someone explain why nithya ramen is significantly outperforming karen bass in the late ballots?
i get that late ballots lean dem. but both ramen and bass are dem. and the ratio of ramen to bass votes have wildly changed
pls no lazy answers like “it’s rigged”. if you’re gonna say it’s rigged pls provide evidence on why you believe it’s rigged

UPDATE in Los Angeles L.A. County adds another 58,558 votes in the Mayor’s race. This batch breaks: 40.16% for Nithya Raman (+23,514 votes) 32.98% for Karen Bass (+19,312 votes) 17.65% for Spencer Pratt (+10,336 votes) Raman won more than 40% of all newly counted ballots while Pratt remained below 18%. Raman gained 13,178 votes on Pratt in this batch alone. Current totals: Karen Bass: 235,180 (34.81%) Spencer Pratt: 184,596 (27.32%) Nithya Raman: 177,102 (26.21%) Pratt’s lead over Raman now stands at just 7,494 votes, down from: At the current pace, Pratt’s lead could disappear in the very next major vote update.

The fact that this platform was overwhelmingly pro-Pratt, to the point of actually thinking he might win outright, should force a lot of people on here to reconsider (a) their political sophistication and (b) the extent to which X discourse has decoupled from the real world.

As expected in CA-06, Democrat Richard Pan has passed Republican Michael Stansfield as Sacramento’s late vote moved sharply Democratic.
Pan is now on track to face independent Kevin Kiley, who caucuses with Republicans, avoiding a Democratic lockout.

One of the more tedious processes in counting California's vote is that every mailed-in and dropped off ballot has to go through a signature verification process.
An LA County elections worker today tells me California confirms your ballot signature by checking it against all of the signatures CA has on file including your registration signature, previous ballots or DMV.
Kinda makes you wonder why not just ask for an ID up front and potentially eliminate all the backlog from the post election signature checks.

I think most past assumptions are out the window considering the novel circumstances with this primary. In the past, it's varied by election and by region (the late vote in the Inland Empire has typically been red-shifting, in L.A. County, much more of a blue shift). A 5% cushion is probably the absolute minimum for a Republican candidate if the conventional wisdom about this year's blue shift holds.
