The way this team competed tonight says a lot about our coaches and players. After the game, I overheard a father telling his son, “That’s why you never quit.” A fitting reflection of the legacy this group is building together. One more chance Saturday to finish the story!

🚨Team NorCal Car Parade this Sunday 🚨 What a journey it’s been for our Alpine 12U All-Stars - D52, Section 3 & NorCal Champs! This Sunday (9/7), our community celebrates the players & coaches with a 🚒–led car parade, starting 10:30am at PV Town Center and ending at Ford Field. Thank you to everyone who has supported this team - let’s line the streets and cheer them home!

A couple weeks back, the morning after our heartbreaking loss to Hawaii (a game their legendary manager later called “the most exciting game he’d ever been a part of”), I had the privilege of sitting down with Gerald Oda. What began as a conversation about youth baseball turned into something deeper when we discovered we shared a common mentor in @dnaks10, who was my head coach at @SanJoseStateBSB when I worked as a hitting coach. From there, we spoke about coaching philosophies, leadership, and the responsibility that comes with shaping young athletes. After watching Hawaii play six times over two tournaments, I left the West Region Tournament in awe of what Coach Oda has built, and more importantly, how he has built it. As a two-time @littleleague World Series champion (2018 & 2022), he has turned Hawaii into a worldwide powerhouse. But what makes it so special isn’t the trophies - it’s the culture: a program grounded in respect, love, family, and giving kids the confidence to play fearless, knowing they are supported by their coach, their teammates, and their community. That consistency is what sets Hawaii apart, and in many ways, is philosophically aligned with what we strive for at @SHPAthletics. I’ve reflected a lot since then on how I can carry that same spirit of ʻohana into Gator Nation so that every student who steps foot in the gym, pool, court, or field feels the love and support of something bigger than themselves. I’m deeply appreciative of Coach Oda for his time, his wisdom, and for epitomizing what true leadership looks like when the focus is always on the kids.

So fired up for the Grand Opening of my new batting cage facility this Sunday. The event will combine all of my favorite things: baseball, community, food, music, learning, competition and FUN! ⚾🎶🍔🎉 We’re bringing in some of the Bay Area’s top baseball minds to help parents guide their kids on their baseball journeys. Two Legends alumni from Alpine Little League’s State Championship team (just two wins away from Williamsport!) will also be there. If you’re in Nor Cal this Sunday, please come out and support!

It didn’t end the way we dreamed. But what a ride it was. To this group of boys - thank you. You gave everything. You played with heart, passion, grit, and joy. You competed with class and carried yourselves like champions, no matter the outcome. You reminded all of us what’s possible when a team truly believes in each other. To the families - thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and showing up with unwavering love every step of the way. The energy, the sacrifice, the commitment… none of this happens without you. This journey - this summer - has been the most gratifying experience of my coaching career. Not because of the wins, but because of who I got to walk it with. These boys love the game. They love each other. And through all the ups and downs, they showed us what this sport is really about: resilience, sportsmanship, and playing for something bigger than yourself. Congratulations to rising senior Charlotte Weber on her commitment to play tennis at Georgetown University!

Last night, Team NorCal went toe to toe with Hawaii, arguably the most decorated @LittleLeague program in the world, and came up just short, falling 4–3 in 8 innings. But the journey’s far from over. Time to dig deep and keep fighting. Semifinal vs SC, Wednesday at 6p on @espn.

Great swing by Derek - but hats off to the Arcadia SS for a @SportsCenter #SCTop10 play. One of two web gems he made in a battle of two evenly matched teams. Team NorCal erased a 1-run deficit in the 6th, scoring 5 to win 5-1. Winners bracket game vs. Hawaii, Mon 6pm on ESPN!

Good luck to @SHSAtherton students Derek Armstrong and Teddy Hourigan, and the rest of Team NorCal (formerly Alpine Little League), as they open West Region play tomorrow in San Bernardino. First pitch at 3pm vs Arizona, live on ESPN+.
