OC/PlayCaller Opening Script Writing Thoughts:
1) Who needs to touch it early or they lose focus? Give them a first 5 plays touch
2) What’s easy for QB to feel good about himself…
Screen?
RPO Hitch?
Pocket Move Curl Flat or Hi-Lo
3) Home-run Shot because it’s possible versus First Play coverage tendency and your team needs it
4) Big Set Smash it down their throat to set the attitude for the game
5) Short 5-8 play opening call sheet because you’re incredibly talented and just need to play fast and repeat plays
6) 20 play opening script because u stink and u have to create yardage with formation advantages ( I hate the long scripts but I’ve made many of them)
7) Head coaches favorite play of the week if he’s not the play caller ( that way if it gains nothing he may*fingers crossed* be less critical thru out the game
8) Formation variations to see if scouting checks out to be true
9) Tempo change scripts ( first down fast…. Muddle burst, etc)
10) Never forget… Repeat good plays (5 plus yards)… it doesn’t matter why they work… if they work do it until they stop it
