🏀Welcome to this months Edition of Coach’s Corner where we show love and appreciation to the coach’s that go the extra mile for this next generation!🏀 @_Coach_Swanson Head Coach of @AHSTrojanHoops has a become great friend of mine, not because the effort and dedication he puts on the court but because of how much he gives off the court. Part of being a coach is having reliability when Coach Swanson says something he either does it or sees it through until he can’t go any further. We asked Coach a couple questions to shed light on what it means to stay prepared in any situation. These were his responses to those questions: What is your why? “I enjoy watching the growth in young people - and it makes it a lot of fun sharing in a common passion like basketball. Also, for me basketball holds some of my best memories of family, friends, and community. One of my biggest goals as a head coach is to connect our community and make it stronger so our kids have the best chance to be successful and make a real impact later on.” What is the message you would give to young coaches? “Work! Grind like you did when you were trying to be a great player, find ways to create opportunities for kids, and infuse in them the passion that drove you to be who you are. Prepare for practice and games like each one is an opportunity to win a championship. The rewards are worth the sacrifice, if you are driven by the right purpose.” How do you prepare for offseason? “As a coach, you’re constantly evaluating the program: each player, each offensive and defensive call, mental approach, in game situations, everything. Did we do enough, how could it be better, can we be more efficient, can we make a bigger impact, all those types of questions are constantly going through my head. So as we move in to offseason, it’s finding ways to answer all those questions - so that the kids in our program have the best chance to feel success.” We are excited to see what coach will cook up in this new landscape!
