@JishuaOW If AI becomes so useful that it permanently raises the unemployment rate (even to 100%!) that would obviously be a public policy problem. There are clear solutions in that scenario, many of which are openly supported by otherwise tax-averse moguls of Silicon Valley.

@JishuaOW The simple reality is that AI is a technical innovation that will outcompete human labor in discrete industries, just as the computer put human computers out of business. This is not a public policy problem.

maybe im just too woke but its really disheartening watching how the average person does not seem to understand how bad ai is and how much worse its going to make us all but oh well i guess you need it because "you'll fall behind if you dont" 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Chris does not understand environmental economics. And yet, Chris continues to post about environmental economics. Do not be like Chris.
chris@currievs

@danteh because it is bad for the environment. because it steals intellectual property. because you're smarter and more understanding if you actually read what your professors give you to read. and obviously you know about the negative effects of ai. but even the reasons you think are

Also - a piece of advice to anyone who is looking to defend against these Lifeweaver compositions on maps like Circuit Royale, just play Zenyatta. When you play a flat composition that has better ranged damage, Lifeweaver just doesn’t have *any* reliable win conditions.

It’s definitely accurate that on a flat, narrow map like Circuit Royale, Lifeweaver excels primarily on defense. But speaking from experience, there are other maps where the hero is just better on attack, given the right composition. Petal is not just a defensive tool.

This video from @Ocie_Casts is a great summary of how pros are using Lifeweaver, and what some of his strengths and weaknesses are. However, I think the video does miss a key principle of effective Lifeweaver - aggressive use of Petal and Tree of Life. youtu.be/8qLaqdwEd5o?si…

@pulse_rifle @Ocie_Casts Lifeweaver is only flimsy in extreme circumstances. His fundamental weakness is a lack of offensive utility.

To make a hero that will best fit into the Main Support role, you need... - Boop Ability - Able to support DPS in a proactive fashion - An ultimate that can be used proactively or defensively - An effective movement ability Lucio - Can dive with a Genji/Tracer or support/pocket a Sojourn or other Hitscan. He has a boop to peel against dives. Can move quickly due to wallrides. Brig - Can play on an angle with a Genji/Tracer if needed and can easily support them across the map with packs. Has a strong boop to deny dives and uses bash as movement ability most of the time. (Why LW and Mercy suck as Main Supports) LW - Can't take more aggressive angles to support Genji/Tracer. Has no boop ability. Horizontal movement is slow and limited. Rewarded for staying far from the fight and playing reactively. Can't push proactively with Tree compared to Rally/Beat. Can't use pull or petal to play 1st. Mercy - CAN take aggressive angle to support a flanker, very good at doing so with a Pharah/Echo. Can't go too far though. Rewarded for pocketing a DPS who will cheese out a specific choke point on the map. Mercy has NO boop ability so her other Support is always vulnerable. Because the other Support has to play super far back, a Mercy comp can rarely play proactively or 1st. Mercy's ultimate is generally weak, but can be used proactively. Mercy has good movement.

@CSHTF__ @Ocie_Casts @shadowfan1874 @Nwf_12p Lifeweaver is generally more functional, like main supports typically are, when their other support lacks mobility. In the particular case of LW, this means Ana, Zenyatta, and Illari. Baptiste and Kirko are relatively weaker pairings because they lack threat + have redundant CDs

@Ocie_Casts @Nwf_12p (These flex support players had Zenyatta experience because of Lucio-Zen and Mercy-Zen compositions, *not* because of Brig-Zen)

@Ocie_Casts @Nwf_12p This is slightly wrong on the history - Baptiste-Zenyatta preceded the advent of Brigitte-Zenyatta compositions. Main supports were really on Baptiste because flex supports already had experience on Zenyatta, while Baptiste was the new hero.

@Ocie_Casts Mercy doesn’t need much to be functional - maybe adding some power to her ultimate (no res cast time?) For Lifeweaver, the problem remains that his offensive utility, Petal, is too weak. Power could be added here through, e.g., damage reduction for anyone standing atop.

@Ocie_Casts The complaint during moth meta was often particularly that resurrect punished dive comps disproportionately, because too many resources were required to force resurrect. That, fundamentally, is the value of peel. A tool to deal with and ultimately punish aggression.
