The term "articulate" when used to describe by a non black person to describe a black person is sometimes interpreted as a well-documented microaggression. It operates on the premise that black folks are inherently less educated or well-spoken, framing basic competence as a deviation from a racist norm. Obviously I know this wasn't your intention 🙏🏽, and I know these conversations aren't fun, but in America these are the sort of things that our history has forced us to be conscious of.
