I think this was good dialogue and steps towards reconciliation and hope for both sides. I want to add a little to the statement that blacks haven’t cared about impoverished African countries. In 1918, Black men Volunteered for armed services to aid Ethiopia from being colonized by Italy. They were denied. During the 1980s, thousands of African Americans were jailed across the country due to protesting apartheid in Africa. Most, notably, we are the world was written and performed by mostly notable black artist, all proceeds of the song went to aid impoverished African nations. I think both sides could have done a little more to be honest, however, to imply one side has done nothing for the other is incorrect. Africa has been reaching out to African Americans and vice versa for many years. (Apologies for being long winded)
