BLAST Open Rotterdam - Analysis of Major qualification scenarios Being the final tier 1 event before the major cutoff with maximum event weight in VRS the stakes are high for most teams here in relation to the major qualification. Let's have a closer look : ------------------------------- 4 teams: Vitality, MOUZ, FURIA and The Mongolz don't need any results. They have secured a stage 3 invite already. 2 EU, 1 AM and 1 AS stage 3 spot taken. ------------------------------- 5 teams: Spirit, Falcons, PARIVISION, NaVi, Aurora are competing for the remaining 4 EU stage 3 invites. One will have to settle with a stage 2 invite. Everything is up in the air really. If one of the teams goes 1-2 or even 0-2 they are probably out of the race. If all 5 do better than that it will be very exciting who won't get a stage 3 invite.. if that excites you, that is 😉 If we should try to rank the teams in terms of least result needed, starting with least, it would be: NaVi -> Aurora/PARIVISION -> Spirit/Falcons. Note: It might not be settled completely in this BLAST Open as a few teams have booked Open LANs after BLAST Open in an attempt to up their chances. Question is if it will. ------------------------------- 3 teams: FaZe, B8 and NIP are competing for a EU major spot - a stage 1 invite. They are all currently outside invite range but could make huge jumps in this BLAST Open if they upset higher ranked teams. This is where the most major drama is probably. All 3 teams have other LANs lined up after BLAST Open, but they also all really need at least 1 win here in BLAST Open, if nothing else then at the very least the lower bracket 0-1 matchup. 0-2 for any of these 3 teams will put max pressure on them before their final smaller LAN and could likely result in them not making the major. Depends on how other contender teams do as well though in other LANs. ------------------------------- 3 teams: NRG, 9z and Liquid are competing for AM stage 2 invites. 9z is in the best position with Liquid and NRG more in need of winning a match here at BLAST Open to secure it. Major should be secured for all of them, but getting a win here in BLAST would be a lot of points for all of them. NRG needs a win the most as it looks. ------------------------------ 1 team: TYLOO is trying to get an Asian stage 1 spot. An upset win in BLAST Open would go a long way. ------------------------------
