Yesterday afternoon, HB 634 passed the Georgia Senate Education and Youth Committee. The bill makes several administrative changes to the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship. It now moves to the Rules Committee before a potential vote on the Senate floor.

On Tuesday, the Georgia House Appropriations Education Subcommittee passed SB 498, a bill that will help charter schools more easily secure facilities funding through a revolving loan fund. The bill now moves to the full committee.

Today, the Senate Committee on Children and Families passed HB 1009. This legislation would expand the Distraction-Free Education Act to include grades 9–12. The bill now moves to the Rules Committee and then to a potential vote in the Senate.

This week, our DeKalb County Parent Fellow, Lasharn Ferroudj, hosted a DeKalb Day at the Capitol for our network of advocates. We were joined by The Village Schools and TREAD Educational Services & TREAD Academy. We had an amazing turnout and to students advocate for themselves!

Yesterday, 40 advocates joined us at the State Capitol for our Special Education Day. We want to take a moment to thank the incredible advocates who attended and helped organize this event. We want to thank Rep. Flournoy and @VoteClintDixon for helping make this day possible!

Excellent work by @TucciSandy1 bringing together a bipartisan coalition and getting unanimous passage in the State House on this important legislation.

The Georgia House has passed HB 1030, the Math Matters Act. This is a big step toward strengthening math outcomes statewide and ensuring students build the skills they need for college, careers, and beyond.

HB 634 has passed the Georgia House of Representatives. This bill strengthens the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship program by making several administrative improvements.

HB 1009, legislation expanding the removal of distractions such as cell phones in grades 9–12 classrooms, has passed the Georgia House of Representatives. The bill now moves to the Georgia Senate.

The Georgia Literacy Act of 2026 (HB 1193) has passed the Georgia House of Representatives and now heads to the Georgia Senate. The bill builds on lawmakers’ efforts to improve literacy across our state.
