Just sharing we’ve extended the application deadline to apply for FIRE to April 13th. FIRE is an advocacy training that helps build stronger leaders. During the training, fellows will learn the basics of advocacy, organizing, and education policy. This training is free and open to all 50 states. The training is virtual. Apply here: 50can.org/fire

HB 1193 has just passed the Georgia State Senate. The bill aims to ensure more Georgia students can read proficiently by the end of third grade. It now moves to the Georgia House of Representatives for final agreement.

We're so excited to see HB 634 added to the calendar, this legislation would provide some administrative changes to the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship.

Thursday is the last day of session, and we want to take a moment to highlight SB 498. This bill would help public charter schools address one of their biggest hurdles: facility financing. Check out this testimony from Tapestry Charter - Clayton on the need for the bill.

This bill now incorporates language from HB 1218, allowing students in virtual charter schools to participate in extracurricular activities, including athletics, at their zoned schools. The bill now moves to the Senate for agreement.

Moments ago, my bill HB 1030 received final passage and is on its way to the Governor's desk! This legislation will strengthen our math education across the state by expanding access to advanced math classes, increasing instructional time, and improving teacher preparation.
