When you see someone, in person or online, what you see is a slice of them. A single slice of their pizza. That slice might have ham and pineapples on it. But that doesn't mean their whole Pizza has the same topping. What you saw on my slice was a guy who stopped making art and swapped to AI. But my whole Pizza? When I was in my mid-late 20s, I destroyed my dominant wrist. I spent the next half a decade trying to learn to draw with my left hand. I tried to re-learn to draw with my right whole using a bunch of "support" tools. I tried to learn to draw with a mouse. And I could not adapt. For years, I had people telling me I was just being lazy. Look at these other people who learned to draw with their feet, or their mouth. I just wasn't trying hard enough. I attempted suicide multiple times over the years, that's how low I was. That's how useless I felt. AI saved my life. It's not a replacement for what I lost, but its given me an outlet for all the silly ideas I wanted to make. It's given me something to hyper focus on. It's not an excuse. And I'm not looking for sympathy. I wouldn't be who I am now had my past not happened, and I love who I am now. But I wanted to show you more of my Pizza because maybe it will help you understand that there's more going on than what you saw on that first slice. I didn't stop drawing because of AI. I started being creative again because of it. Even if its a different kind of creativity.

Not only does it diminish peoples trust in your art, i feel it also diminishes that passion for art you have when its simplified so much

That comes down to a difference of opinion, and opinions are subjective. Compared to when I was able to draw, my job being a balloon artist and my work with AI, I'd say I've never been more creative and my creative thinking has only benefited from using AI. But then, I'm not using AI to do my job for me. I'm not using it to make images to pass off as my own and getting an undeserved dopamine hit, I'm not using AI to do my tests for me and I don't even think AI can handle the three dimensional problem solving to create balloon animals. Someone who uses AI to replace their creativity, rather than strengthen it, are the ones who lose in the end here.

That's a better comparison. And we could argue that if you use performance enhancing drugs that you shouldn't be allowed to compete with people who haven't used them. You should also be honest about using the drugs, and make it very clear that you achieved your results through the use of those drugs. That is why I make sure all my AI art is hashtagged and watermarked, to make it clear that my stuff is AI. I don't pass it off as something I drew, I wouldn't submit it to art competitions and I don't hide the fact that I use AI. And I would hope everyone else who uses AI would do the same.

People who cheat in a video game are cheating to gain an unfair advantage. They're intending to beat the other players unfairly. People who use AI are usually looking for ideas, or to flesh out existing ones, then use their actual skills as an artist to bring those ideas to life. That's a generalization, of course. You're going to find a lot of people on Twitter who claim AI is the future and to stop drawing entirely. Shit like the screenshot are actually the minority. A very annoying, vocal minority. They're the ones who I always point out as giving AI its bad reputation. Please, when you see stuff like this online, consider it bait. Because that's exactly what it is, bad actors looking to drum up engagement.

You compare it cheating because it makes it look bad, not because its a fair comparison. I urge you to look into how AI works, and how you train an AI model. Not so you can do it yourself, but so that you know what you're standing against. If you want to hate AI, hate it for the correct reasons. Not the made up ones.

They aren't losing their job to AI. They're losing their job to someone who knows how to use AI. There's a difference. As an artist, could regulate your use of AI. Use it for concept art or ideas, then use your skills as an artist to bring them to life. But time and time again, I see artists completely resist AI on a misguided principle, then when they can't match the output of someone who's using AI in their workflow they get replaced and then have the gall to act surprised. Does it suck? Yes. Probably for most. Is it reality? Also yes. You can choose to live in this uncomfortable reality and make the best of a bad situation, or you could choose to live in lala land and slowly watch everything you built crumble to dust because "It shouldn't be this way". To be clear, I am 100% on your side. It IS actively happening, and it SUCKS when you lose your job to someone you perceive as having cheated. But the truth of the matter, the reality we live in, is that someone used AI to produce better results than you (hypothetical you, not YOU you) could without it, and the company does not care about the human. They care about the result.

To add to this, I put a lot of effort into making my models. Just because you don't know what that effort entails doesn't mean it doesn't exist. As an artist who also uses AI, I know what goes into both. I know the effort an artist puts into their work. I also know the effort an AI trainer puts into theirs. There are times when I genuinely put more effort into a model than I ever did into a piece of art I drew.

With no disrespect intended, as that would make me a massive hypocrite, but why do artists scream about AI "taking and editing without permission" in one breath, then do these unsolicited redesigns in the next? You didn't ask to change someone else's design. You just took their character, without permission, and changed them. You don't know why the original artist designed them the way they did. You didn't ask them if there was any significant reasons behind each design element. You just edited, without permission. By your own logic, do you not understand how insulting that is? What if part of her design was sentimental to the original creator, and you've just pissed all over it.

Pretty much this. Women have a higher vocal range. They can be heard further, and are much louder than men. It makes sense that they would essentially be Nature's warning system. It might also ward off predators - Lots of loud noise from all directions could disorientate. Things make a lot more sense when you remember we're basically just hyper intelligent monkeys.
