Boo! The "opening crawl" is a signature Star Wars thing. It belongs at the beginning of every Star Wars movie, Skywalker Saga or not, to psyche us up for what we're about to watch.
That's how it used to be for the old games, too.

He was the iconic narrator of ‘The Clone Wars’ series as well as the voice of Yoda & Admiral Yularen. He also voiced Professor Utonium in ‘The Powerpuff Girls’.

@sammi4tw @BlackMajikMan90 Liu, Johnny, & Sonya are more well-rounded in the '95 movie. Aside from Cage & Kano, most characters in MK II have next to no personality, especially Raiden & Shang. Asano doesn't have the commanding presence of game Raiden, & neither has the charm & charisma of the '95 versions.

The only thing OG Mk does better than this movie IMO is in the hype techno music especially for fight scenes which was non-existent sadly.

#MortalKombat II doesn’t land every punch perfectly, but once it gets going, it absolutely commits to the chaos. The sequel struggles a bit early on with pacing and its massive roster of characters, but the second half fully embraces what fans want: brutal fights, over-the-top spectacle, and pure Mortal Kombat energy. Lastly, the casting. Tadanobu Asano’s accent is so thick it’s hard to understand him, & just as in MK’21, he lacks the commanding presence that Raiden needs to have. On the other side, Chin Han lacks all the charm and charisma Shang Tsung should have.

Mortal Kombat II Review: while it’s not better than the ‘95 original, it is miles above the 2021 movie. The powers that be listened to the criticisms of the 1st film & did what they could to fix things the 2nd time round. 1/?
