@sterlingcrispin I think we need an MCP server that just has a person behind it that the AI can ask for a second opinion so everything goes full circle

@sterlingcrispin From what you're saying it also doesn't sound very decentralized as the underlying endpoints can go down and that's that. Also a malicious actor can take over the endpoint if the domain expires.

I'm not sure ERC-8004 makes sense, but that hasn't prevented wild profits in the past. It's a new token standard for "Trustless Agents" basically an NFT that defines an AI agent, trust score, and validation of work. But, there's no guarantee 8004's will be agents. Because fundamentally ERC-8004 is a registry for service endpoints, not AI agents. Service endpoints are just some place on the internet, that'll respond in some way. Example .com is a service endpoint that hosts a static page saying "this is an example webpage" and technically that could be an AI agent according to ERC-8004. Anybody can mint an ERC-8004, claim it's some sort of agent, and then point it toward literally anything on the internet or IPFS. There's no required framework for validating or defining agentic capabilities. In it's defense, you can include a URL to an MCP or Google's Agent2Agent protocol. But that's all optional in ERC-8004 and it doesn't inherently support any of that besides allowing you to write a URL to some endpoint. ERC-8004 just defines where an endpoint exists, not how it should behave, or how you should even interact with them, or how the endpoint will respond. Part of ERC-8004 involves trust, reputation and validation, which is intended to help with some of those issues. But 8004 is agnostic in terms of what the 1-100 reputation score really means, how they are validated etc. A "90 point reputation" agent isn't necessarily more trustworthy than a "1 point reputation" agent by someone else. The word "Trustless" is a big overreach. When this stuff goes live we'll all have to figure out which ERC-8004's are actually trustworthy based on their implementation and who's running them etc. The onchain score doesn't inherently mean anything. The word "agent" has been thoroughly abused over the last few years. By definition an agent is an autonomous system that can: - perceive its environment - maintain an internal world model of that environment - makes goal oriented decisions regarding that internal world model - act upon that environment to achieve its goal ERC-8004 doesn't touch on any of these ideas. The EIP for it mentions "Interacting with agents" but it only supports looking up metadata about the token. There's actually nothing about interaction or engagement with agents. It also mentions it's possible to "discover, choose, and interact with agents across organizational boundaries without pre-existing trust." But the protocol itself doesn't manage trust or implement any kind of verification schemes. It just allows you to record a 1-100 value with no shared meaning between tokens. To steelman against my critiques, I think you could say that ERC-8004 is just a building block. A generic agnostic brick that many other bricks will be laid on top of to build something useful and interesting. And that's probably true. I am an old man yelling at clouds a bit here. But in that case, I really don't think it needs to be an ERC or EIP. This could easily just be an NFT project by a couple of people that some other people extend with their own ideas. It shouldn't be called "ERC-8004: Trustless Agents" but something like “ERC-8004: Registry for Service Endpoints and Trust Metadata.” but that's a lot less sexy and doesn't roll off the tongue with the same kind of hype. All that being said, I'm still probably going to buy some of these projects when they go live to speculate on them eventually working out all these issues.

I needed some pencil caps so I made my own model. It's been fun seeing stuff around the house as a challenge.
