Mother Earth is struggling to breathe under the weight of emissions from BP,Exxon mobil,Chevron, and Shell, who are simultaneously posting record profits. It's crucial we demand more from these companies in terms of environmental responsibility.

Dear media, Please can you inform the public of the alarm climate scientists are expressing about the apparent increase in the rate of global warming. @piersmorgan @NeilThompson62 @CliveMyrieBBC @vicderbyshire @Emmabarnett @maitlis @jonsopel @Peston @bbcnickrobinson @mrjamesob

"If the 15-year warming trend leading up to now continued, global warming would reach 2°C by April 2038" Looking at the @NASA CERES based Earth's Energy Imbalance, I think we will reach that even sooner! We are already at +1.5°C, for all intents and purposes.

F*ck! The ocean is losing its ability to store heat as the planet warms up With a record high rate of heat accumulation, that means that more heat is available to warm the land and atmosphere, and to melt ice. Both relatively and absolutely. Which is exactly what we see!
Leon Simons 🌍 tweet media
Leon Simons 🌍@LeonSimons8

There is a rapid increase in the amount of heat that is absorbed by the atmosphere. -From 1961-2000 the trend was 0.53 ZJ (5.3*10^20 Joules) per decade. -From 2006-2020 this was 2.29 ZJ per decade. That means that ~4 times as much heat is now accumulating in the atmosphere!

Trump said today he wants his legacy to be that of a peace maker His only legacy will be that he will have helped to have killed billions of people and countless animals as he blocks climate action and drills baby drills Latest research predicts 4 billion dead in 25 years

Hottest January on record shocks scientists Far for being alarmists, scientists have underestimated how rapidly our climate is heading towards catastrophic change the likes of which Earth has not seen in millions of years and which human cannot survive ft.com/content/b5d18a…

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell If a billion was too much money for anyone to have, then why not defund insurance companies, hospitals, and colleges? The owners don't need that much money, right? They make billions, yet the government still sends them money.

@OhSonoki @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell I don't say billionaires have to spend every penny on others. I'm saying that a billion is too much money for anyone to have, while people are literally dying for not having enough money. It's not that hard to understand.

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell Then dont be angry at billionaires when they aid our country to a high extent just because they don't spend every penny on others. Don't ever complain about people in your countries' needs not being met when billions go to other countries. You have different priorities.

@OhSonoki @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell I don't care more about people in my own country than people in other countries. My sympathies with people struggling doesn't stop at the border. I wouldn't mind increasing both taxes and foreign aid to for example Gaza. That's the decent thing to do.

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell I know how much a billion is. If you're so appalled at rich people not giving their billions, why not get mad at the government sending 40 billion to foreign countries instead of focusing it to our people? The government is stingier than regular rich people. They're not to blame

@OhSonoki @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell We make up the government together. The government relies on us all. Do you know how much a billion is? There is no reason anyone should have that amount of money while people are starving, homeless or dying from curable diseases.

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell If the government relies on no one, then nobody gets fed or is safe. It's a give-give, not a give-take. The government relies on everyone, but more so the rich, since they give the most. Without that, we would all be impoverished. Is everyone struggling better than only some? No.

@OhSonoki @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell We shouldn't have to rely on a few peoples goodwill to feed poor people. The government has to fullfill their part of the social contract and make sure everyone is safe and fed. Do people at your parties have seconds before everyone has eaten once?

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell If everyone is the same, nobody is special. Rich people build jobs that provide that mother of 3 the ability to feed her children. Without them having money, they can't make more jobs. Being contemptuous of successful people because they don't spend every dime on others is poor.

@OhSonoki @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell I really don't care if a single mother of 3 doesn't "contribute to society" by feeding her kids instead of paying taxes. I do however have a problem with billionaires buying a yacht when people are starving in the street. Imagine what good that money could do in other places.

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell It's definitely to be applauded because there's people of all economic classes who don't pay their fair share. Suggesting that everything is to be fair in society suggests communism, which widely failed in other nations. Nobody wants suffering but there will always be as much.

@OhSonoki @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell I don't think they should be applauded for paying their fair share. How is it possible that someone is swimming in money while some people die because they can't afford medicine? How can you not feel that something is deeply wrong with society?

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell They still pay more in taxes than a whole town of people. Just wait until you find out your favorite sports players, musicians, and actors also evade taxes to a notable standard.

@_HH2098 @jeffhcincy @darrenrovell The state has an allowance of what they can fund. The US already spends billions each year in the listed categories while also spending billions in foreign aid. Millionaires and billionaires contribute to a large portion of this
