UPDATE: The Eziama pedestrian footbridge, Ogbonnaya Onu Poly, Aba. The steel truss superstructure about to be installed. Frame 4 is what we're expecting it to look like from the inside on completion.

UPDATE: The Eziama Pedestrian Footbridge at Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (formerly Abia State Polytechnic) in Aba is making steady progress. Construction of the new iconic bridge, awarded to Craneburg Construction by Governor Alex Otti’s administration, is ongoing. It aims to replace the old metal structure (which will be dismantled upon completion), enhance pedestrian safety, and improve the aesthetic appeal along Factory Road. Work is being handled through GADA with high civil engineering standards. The project, which commenced in mid-2025, was initially expected to be completed within 2–3 months, though it remains actively under construction. It is PWD-compliant. This forms part of broader urban renewal efforts in Aba.

Firstly, Horses were a thing among the Nupe and Hausa traders; they were not common in the SW and SE due to one major factor, the tsetse fly.
It's one of the biggest enemies of the Horse.
In the 19th century, Nupe and Hausa traders were domiciled in Ibagwa Aka, around Nsukka, which is closer to the north; there you find a significant number of Nupe and Hausa.
They've been trading Horses there for centuries; modern medicine has helped in reducing the mortality rate.
Also, some cultures and norms see Horses as an abomination.
I.e Ado-Ekiti.
There is no Horse; from my knowledge; it’s considered an abomination.
I once questioned such customs; I think it’s ingenuity to think of horses as some gotcha entity to spite people from other regions.
Northern climate and terrain encouraged the productivity of horses and camels; this is why they have high numbers of such animals.
