So happy to see the news this morning that @AstroJaws has been assigned to her 1st space flight - as Commander for #NASA's SpaceX Crew-7 mission to the ISS as early as 2023 with ESA astronaut @Astro_Andreas as Pilot. Two additional crew members will be announced later.

Happy 92nd birthday to Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise. Getting to work with him in the early days of the Space Station program was the highlight of my NASA career. How it started vs. how it's going...

Had a good time signing my book Sunday afternoon, with fellow author Michael Williams, at the Writers’ League of Texas booth as part of the Texas Book Festival in downtown Austin. Congress Avenue was shut down from 7th Street to the State Capitol for the festival.

Just got my invitation from NASA to attend the Astronaut Group 24 announcement at JSC on Sept. 22. Can't wait to see who the new AsCans (Astronaut Candidates) are that were selected from 8,000 applicants. Hoping one of my friends was selected.

Got to speak about working at NASA to both junior high and high school students at Space Center Houston last week.

Saw my book in a university library for the first time, at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. It was next to my friend Debbie Trainor's book (From Tortillas to Astronauts) in the New Arrivals section. The library houses our NASA Alumni League Human Spaceflight archive.

Wishing my all-time favorite football player, Earl Campbell, a happy 70th birthday - Texas Longhorn, Houston Oiler, Heisman Trophy winner (1977), and Pro Football Hall-of-Famer.

Earlier this week, I played with a small group of Longhorn Alumni Band (@lhab) friends at a birthday party for a UT alum at a private home in River Oaks (Houston). I've been playing with several of these folks since we were in the Longhorn Band together in the 1970s.

Today, for just the 2nd time in my life, my photo was on the front page of a newspaper (in East Texas). The story was about the event at the Remembering Columbia Museum in Hemphill, TX, on the 22nd anniversary of the Columbia accident where I spoke & signed copies of my book.
