It’s pretty wild when you really step back and look at what happened. During the COVID-era, there was a massive segment of people who, for the first time, were starting to question not just one party, not just one politician—but the entire paradigm of government itself. They were beginning to see that maybe centralized power wasn’t the solution. They were exploring decentralization, parallel economies, private membership associations, voluntary communities, natural law, and ways to live in alignment with sovereignty outside of top-down control. But then Trump came along—and whether intentionally or not, served as the perfect psychological release valve. By wrapping his messaging in anti-globalist language, freedom rhetoric, and “drain the swamp” sentiments, he swooped that entire segment of people right back into the very system they were starting to detach from. Instead of continuing to seek solutions that existed outside of government, many reverted right back into the same old pattern: outsource power to another politician, trust that this time the state will fix itself—so long as the “right guy” is in charge. And in doing so, many of the same people who were once passionately exploring decentralization and self-governance now display little to no interest in building outside the system at all. Everything becomes about electing Trump, defending Trump, and placing faith back in centralized power structures, as if the problem was merely “who” controlled them, not that they exist at all. This is how controlled opposition works. You don’t have to crush a rebellion if you can simply redirect it. And you don’t need mass censorship if you can give the awakening crowd a hero to follow, so they voluntarily re-enter the very system they were beginning to exit.
