@Petercoville It is entitled to do that, yes. But that doesn't make it anything like genuine investment, which involves risking your own money.

@_JamieWhyte Jamie I think you're being too logical - and not rhetorical enough! "Labour" is a metonym for "the Labour Government", which has not "confiscated" anyone's money, but, as a democratically-elected Govt, is legally entitled to raise taxes & spend it where they think best.

"Labour is investing". No it isn't. This money is not coming from the Labour Party. Rather, the Labour Party is using the powers it has in government to force other people to invest in the enterprises they favour. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Last week I announced the biggest cash injection into social and affordable housing in 50 years Today we announced the National Housing Bank to unlock £53 billion private investment and turbocharge house building Labour is investing in Britain's renewal to make you better off

@Petercoville I can't see the relevance of the fact that they were elected. I'm suggesting that they are passing off the confiscation as investment of their own money. "Labour is investing".

I know everyone is bored of Covid But I won't let history be rewritten by people claiming it didn't kill or that vaccines didn't work. Covid killed The vaccines worked I won't let that be forgotten.

@DamianLow3 Are you saying the Labour government caused this increase or just that it happened after they came to power. If you are saying they caused it, how?

Real wages have grown more in the first 10 months of the Labour government than during the first ten years of Conservative governments since 2010. How come that isn’t making headlines?

@SHamiltonian Economic planning can't be done by anyone, including by people with PhDs in economics. Why do these jobs even exist? Why is there a Minister for Financial Services?

The shame in the ruling is that it is needed. The need arises from the Equality Act. The whole business of who can play in which tournaments and piss in which loos and all the rest of it should be a matter for the owners of the loos , tournaments and all the rest of it.

The biggest net result of today’s Supreme Court ruling is that trans people will be more scared and their lives more difficult. It’s up to those who stand by trans people to make sure their lives are as easy, comfortable and safe as possible under any legal reality.

@_JamieWhyte I heard you on the Moral Maze last week and have recommended the debate to all of my friends. You were excellent and if I were in government I would invite you to contribute to a debate about how we should dismantle the NHS and recreate healthcare for the 21st century.

@Eyeswideopen69 You honestly can't see the difference between this demand by the US government and an EU directive?

So stoked to see New Zealand College of Midwives chief executive Alison Eddy speak out in support of using accurate and respectful sex-based language for women's health, pregnancy, and birthcare.

The proper details on this are available from @BenThomasNZ and @TaxpayersUnion. If I failed to give my kid the allowance increase she wanted, and instead gave her what she got last week, would that count as "slashing" her funding? And we wonder why people don't trust media.
Tom Day@tomdaynz

#BREAKING Nicola Willis has slashed the Reserve Bank’s funding by 25%. The bank initially sought $1.03 billion for the next five years, but the government is giving them $750 million instead. @1NewsNZ

One of the biggest disappointments of the last few months was not having the chance to debate Seymour. I so wanted to dismantle his pathetic arguments but we decided that we didn’t want to give him another opportunity to misrepresent and lie about his intentions regarding the Treaty. However, we did debate his nonsense on one occasion and here he is sitting by me at the Taxpayers Union and Working Group election debate in 2023. I really enjoyed this. What do you think?
