@jeffphilips1 Aba people are paying for light even at it's high cost because they are seeing the light. And there is no amount an electric unit will cost and it will be cheaper to run Gen but people are running Gen, including other disadvantages like noise and pollution

No na. Currently, Aba power has the highest kwh price in Nigeria and it's not close to this. Band A cost for EKDC is ~N209. Estates paying higher amounts may be generating alternative power. As per those complaining about different bands and how it should be abolished, the problem is not with the distribution companies or government because if they abolish bands, it then means everyone will pay band A cost and we all know how that goes. I've seen people protesting to remove them from band A because the cost was too much for them. If Nigerians want constant electricity as it is elsewhere, subsidy has to go. And this is where I always like using the same Ghana that we tend to admire their constant power to draw comparisons. We know the problem as well the solution and as he asked, are we ready for it?

Cheap is relative The average electricity bill in US is $139 per month ( and it's always available) Minimum wage is about $1300 per month. You're paying 10% of your monthly pay as minimum wage earner for electricity that's always available btw. So it's actually affordable and available as it should be in a working society

Before the spiritual realm completely bows to a man, it will first demand to see exactly how much of his own grief he is willing to swallow. The legend of Reverend(Dr.) Uma Ukpai does not begin with blind eyes opening. It begins in the belly of a river, on the darkest afternoon of his existence. It was the 1980s and Uma Ukpai was en route to a crusade in Ohafia. His driver, carrying his children and a cousin lost control. The car skidded off the asphalt, crashed, and plunged violently into a deep river. The water didn't negotiate, it roared in through windows and doors, cold and merciless, dragging them under. He watched it happen. And like a man whose actual heart was sinking to the riverbed, Uma Ukpai threw himself into the raging current to fight the tide. His wife went in right after him, throwing herself into the watery abyss in a frantic, desperate struggle to pull her babies from the deep. But water is a ruthless thief. By the time the river settled, it had taken its tithe. Two of his children were gone. The grief was immediate, suffocating, and absolute. His wife was entirely shattered, weeping over the lifeless bodies of her children. For any normal man, the ministry would end that day. You would curse God. You would cancel the crusade. You would take your dead home and never do ministry. But Uma Ukpai did something that still sends shivers down the spine of anyone who hears the tale today. He laid the bodies of his children in a vehicle, looked at his weeping wife, and made a decision that defied human comprehension. He left his dead children, washed his face, and went straight to the crusade ground. The crowd had no idea what had just happened. They only saw a man take the microphone. He didn’t cry on stage. He didn’t ask for pity. With the bodies of his children growing cold just miles away, Uma Ukpai preached with the ferocity of a wounded lion. Miracles broke out, cripples walked and souls were saved in their thousands. He fought the devil on the crusade ground, and only after he had finished the assignment, only after he dropped the microphone did he go back to face the agonizing reality of burying his children. Some stories are not meant to be argued, they are meant to sit with you in silence because there is a kind of fire that water cannot quench, a madness to conviction that human logic simply cannot dissect. This story forces a question most of us spend our entire lives avoiding: What exactly remains of you when life violently extracts something you cannot replace, yet still demands that you continue? So, when next life starts pressing you small, the road turns hard and your resolve begins to thin into contemplating giving up on your dreams. Remember there was a man who paid his transport fare to the pulpit with the bodies of his own children. Because in the face of absolute tragedy, many will break. Some will bend, scar over, and carry on. But a rare, terrifying breed of men become the kind of fire even water cannot quench.
