This year's cauliflowers fluffy sung beautifully by pupils in pre-prep and Year 3 showing us what harvest season is really about. The pupils have put together a delicious display of fruit and vegetables!

A fabulous article on Self Regulation in Early Years 🥰 eyfs.info/articles.html/… @MineEYMind

Sustained, shared conversations with a present and attuned adult >>>> prescriptive phonics and vocab interventions in YR (excerpt from NICHD Pathways to Reading: The Role it Oral Language in the Transition to Reading, 2005) @Keep_EYs_Unique

English

@juliangrenier @GillJonesOfsted It’s so important to note how that vocabulary is developed through meaningful serve and return conversations - too many times this message about vocab makes schools turn to word a day schemes or making vocab a tick list task.

Do you want the child to comply, or do you want the child to learn & understand? 🧸 #ShankerSaturday #SelfReg

English

@StuartShanker any chance of making Self-Reg Schools: A Handbook for Educators available in the UK?? I'm desperate to get my hands on a copy but Pearson will only ship to Canada #selfregulation #EYFS

An excellent article examining the wonderful and completely not standardized approach that is a relational pedagogy #EYFS #relationalpedagogy @Keep_EYs_Unique worth a read for sure! files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ113…

Vocab development is more than introducing words based on an adult agenda or school wide scheme, it's having serve and return conversations, being present, respectful, engaged and attuned to the children you are speaking to. #relationalpedagogy #EYFS

@axana596 Upstart is an incredible book but is heavily based on UK practice and policy. I would recommend “Let the Children Play” by Pasi Sahlberg & William Doyle that uses more global examples

Weekend reading that I absolutely cannot put down @UpstartScot 💛 love, care, play and attunement in the early years now more than ever. A solid, research based case for a Kindergarten stage 3-7 @educationgovuk

English

@juliangrenier @Keep_EYs_Unique @thepetitioner @JamesEYFS @HelenMoylett @NickGibbUK @Ofstednews @_CREC Moving forward with the dialogue I would also stress a relational, hybrid pedagogy with high levels of respect and trust given to people working with children, the children themselves and the invaluable relationship between the two
English

@Keep_EYs_Unique @thepetitioner @JamesEYFS @HelenMoylett @NickGibbUK @Ofstednews @_CREC Mostly agree with that (dialogue and respect) but Chris Pascal made the point clear and strong - it’s not a case of ‘the evidence’ or ‘getting it right’. These are contested areas. That’s why we need dialogue and we also need to bring forward voice/best interests of children.
