hey Kerry here’s some tips: 1. make a list of 100 your favorite artists (even if you don’t think you sound much like them) 2. either run an ad campaign targeting fans of their music, or follow all of them on socials and become an active member of their communities 3. reach out personally to fans, introduce yourself, and ask if you can get their advice on something. if they say “yes”, share one of your songs and ask for their honest feedback instead of sending them to Spotify, my recommendation would be to start by building your own list though – that will give you a way to stay connected with them more directly happy to share more resources if it would be helpful - just shoot me a DM 🖤

The metrics that matter for artists who want to last: Subscribers Collectors Members Buyers Everything else is just reach. Reach you haven’t converted into a real relationship. It can disappear in an instant.

some of our clients have found even taking it a step further and creating musical “moments” worked best to grow their audience a <30 second original sound that works well for short form content like IG Reels and TikTok we’ve seen artists like Erica Mason grow from scratch to over 2.1 million followers posting one new moment per day for a year another one of our artists Apollo Fresh had a moment go viral on TikTok and got over 80 million streams on Spotify because of it then when you have a moment that hits, you can create a full song or album from it

99.5 of musicians are hobbyists. Most music platforms aren’t trying to make you famous! They’re selling you the feeling of “being a professional musician” (having music available to the public). So don’t expect music platforms to have incentives aligned with your success.

Music is shifting. The new way: Followers → Fans Passive → Interactive Audience → Community Superstars → Niche-stars Vanity Metrics → Fandom Metrics Rented Audience → Owned Audience Use a platform → Be the platform The current way will not hold. It's not sustainable.
