I live here, and this ICE shooting in Minneapolis isn’t just another incident. It’s an escalation point. Not because of who pulled first, but because of how both sides will use it. The collapse of Sarajevo didn’t happen overnight. It was a series of incidents that everyone used as justification to push further. This is how that kind of thing starts. They found a gun on the guy. The first pop might have been his. If true, he pulled a gun and got popped. The truth really doesn't matter because both sides will treat it as fodder for their side. The Feds will say this is evidence they need to ramp up, the militants will say they're executing brown people. Meanwhile the ivory tower elites, insulated by the street violence, will encourage protestors to ramp up their actions. They've already been caught beating people who looked like ICE. The Federal Government can't afford to look weak and back down. Tim Walz sees this as his last chance to get his name back in the public sphere and save his political career and thus he cannot back down. The Feds obviously are trucking in officers and the local militants are trucking in agitators and trainers. The escalation will continue until capitulation. This state is becoming a fuckass proxy battle and if it gets worse, to the point where militias start forming up, there's going to be a lot of dead innocent people. Outside of Minneapolis and St. Paul, this state is very much full of people sick of the bullshit that the DFL has wrought over the last decade. They're pissed. In the cities you have people who have been conditioned since 2016 to get angry at anything resembling the color red or the suggestion of any ideas interpreted as right wing. They're pissed. It's a fucking powderkeg and both sides are throwing matches until the other one quits. A lot of people are gonna die if things don't resolve in some capacity soon. Sarajevo didn't happen overnight. It was very slowly then all at once.
