Japanese is full of beautiful words of wisdom. Oubaitõri is derived from four kanji of Japan’s spring blossoms – plum, cherry, peach and apricot and reminds us that like trees, all people have their own unique qualities and gifts. I’m reading @_Natalie_Leon beautiful book, The Japanese Art of Living Seasonally in preparation for a trip to Japan. She writes that Oubaitõri reminds us: · Avoid comparisons between each other – we each grow, bloom and flourish at our own pace and in our own time, · Nature operates on its own schedule and cannot be rushed · Be as kind to yourself as you are to others · Rather than focus on your deficits, savour your strengths As you can see from my banner, I’m rather partial to a Japanese one word concept. Kintsugi is the perfect symbol of psychotherapy. Tsundoku is one I practice far too much. What foreign words do you think we need to embrace?

Daikan: Greater Cold January 20th - February 4th Daikan, meaning “greater cold”, takes place 15 days after midwinter. It’s the coldest time of the year when we awaken to frost-covered landscapes and frozen rivers. Excerpt from #TheJapaneseArtofLivingSeasonally by Natalie Leon.

I can't quite believe it, but I leave for Japan in less than a week! A reusable water bottle and travel chopsticks are my #sustainabletravel essentials.

The theme of today's tea session is tales from the forest. Last week I spent some time immersing myself in one of England's most beautiful and ancient forests. With every step I took, I could feel my mind grow quiet and my body relax as my cortisol levels lowered.

@iconawrites I grew up with Brambly Hedge and seeing the illustrations again took me back in an instant and explains so much about my love of the seasons!

I own The Complete Brambly Hedge, and it’s one of my most cherished possessions. Highly recommended if you have not read it. The stories are as cosy and delightful as the pictures.

I'm celebrating the arrival of Autumn in London. The temperatures have dropped and the leaves have already started to change. What are you most looking forward to about autumn?
