In Detroit, students from University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy took on a quiet but powerful responsibility, serving as pallbearers for unclaimed veterans.
These were men who had served in branches like the Army, Air Force, and Marines, yet had no family or loved ones to attend their funerals.
In partnership with local services and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the students ensured that these veterans received a dignified farewell.
Dressed formally, they carried the caskets, stood in silence during military honors, and offered a final act of respect.
What could have been a lonely, forgotten farewell instead became a moment of dignity showing that even in death, no service and no life should go unrecognized.
