Last Friday, February 13th, I defended my PhD thesis titled "Analysis and evolution of satDNA in Chrysomelidae", with International Mention. Many thanks to my supervisors @PedroPlorite and @_PabloMora_ for their support. Thanks also to the committee and all the collaborators.

Today my fourth PhD student (@AnaBFerretti) defended her thesis. A beautiful work on B chromosomes of Drosophila melanogaster and their impacts in the germline.

Big thanks to all my co-authors, especially @RogerVila_Lab and @GerardTalavera, for helping us collect all the species (and teaching us how to tell them apart!). It wasn’t easy, and it took a long time… but it was totally worth it!

Another paper on polyommatine blue butterflies just published in @GenomeBiolEvol. Blues have high chromosome numbers associated with increased diversification and their karyotypes reveal strategies to maintain genomic integrity amidst profound karyotypic changes
