You do know custom fabric banner and Philippine flag are not mutually exclusive. Flags are manufactured fabric banners. Printing the faces during production instead of adding them later does not automatically change what the finished item depicts: the Philippine flag’s distinctive design, not merely patriotic colours. Your defence rests on renaming it and assuming “custom-made” creates a loophole. It doesn’t automatically exempt the design. RA 8491 prohibits adding figures, pictures, designs, or imprints to the flag and also regulates representations of it. At minimum, nothing you cited proves that incorporating the faces during production suddenly makes it acceptable. Chicago may affect jurisdiction or enforcement, but it does not change what the object represents or make flag etiquette irrelevant. And before you get ahead of yourself, my main point has always been simple: this is wrong, regardless of which fandom did it. Some Blooms did something similar before, and OFC and other Blooms had to issue mass call-outs and reminders. So this is not selective outrage; it is about applying the same standard and demanding the same accountability.Calling it a “custom banner” is not proof. It is wordplay used to avoid the actual issue.

This is sad, but I have to commend the consistency in poor judgment and poorer etiquette - from actions that contradict the very “OPM rise” they claim to champion, to discrediting women through fake news, and now disrespecting the Philippine flag representing the same country their idols proudly carry on the global stage. It would have been so easy to admit na baka nadala lang sa excitement, acknowledge the lapse, apologise, and learn proper flag etiquette. Pero hindi - ginawang defence ang “nasa ibang bansa naman,” as though basic respect ends the moment you pass immigration. Very global ang venue, pero iniwan sa Pilipinas ang basic flag etiquette. Patriotism is not something you switch off at immigration. Pero sige, instead of accountability: LAWLESS IT IS.

As a casual fan, silent lurker, what started from a mix of curiosity, boredom, and annoyance at my biggest pet peeve—cultish fandom behavior—turned into a somewhat full day of discourse and bardagulan. Hindi mo makokontrol ang bawat fan—but you can choose whether to correct them or manufacture excuses for them. “Fan-made” is not a moral exemption, just as “for sale” is not an excuse. Parehong mali. To be fair kahit protected pa rin siya under free speech which is why sinita pa rin siya ng mga blooms. Kaya hindi naman siya tinotolerate. Ewan ko sa fandom na todo tanggol sa ginawang mali ng kapwa fan nila we are not the same. Both acts are disrespectful pero ang difference is who tolerate and who hold their cofans accountable for their own actions. Accountability ang usapan dito.

I get your point, and I agree that’s probably why many people don’t see anything wrong with it. But I think this is exactly where we, as Filipinos, have to be mindful. Just because it’s legal or common elsewhere doesn’t mean we should lower our own standard of respect for our national flag. Intent explains why it happened-it shouldn’t become the excuse to keep defending it once people already know better. I guess that’s also where the discussion i had with others starts going in circles and the original point gets lost.

Omg, in a sea of seemingly bot-like replies and circular arguments, this is actually something I can agree with. I agree. If people genuinely didn’t know, then education is the answer. I also understand that the way I worded my post would naturally push buttons and that’s fair. But my point remains the same. I just hope you can also see, from the replies to my post alone, why that education becomes difficult. Instead of “We didn’t know,” or “We’ve already spoken to the person,” it became excuse after excuse for something that was already established as wrong. I think conversations would’ve gone very differently if more of the responses looked like that. Accountability is something every fandom has to work on.. including ours

The irony? Habang sinasabihan mo kaming “wag maging bias,” ikaw mismo ang ayaw pag-usapan ang accountability. Kung hanggang “pareho lang mali” ang analysis mo, para mo na ring sinasabing wala nang pakialam kung may umaamin sa mali o may patuloy na nagde-defend dito. If that’s true, then good. That’s exactly what should’ve happened. But that’s not the point. The criticism isn’t whether someone privately called it out in a GDM. It’s that the public response was dominated by people defending it instead of simply acknowledging the mistake. Thats where my criticism is aimed at. Private accountability doesn’t erase public messaging. If the first thing people saw was “nasa ibang bansa naman,” then that’s naturally what people will react to 😀
