Because Orientale straddles the Moon’s near and far sides near the southwestern limb, it has always appeared severely foreshortened and partially hidden from Earth-based telescopes and earlier missions. I have never created a work that dives this deeply into myself before. Neither have I worked so hard to articulate the experience. So I suppose this portrait of self is a type of new introduction, one that reaches past my name, or who I am, or any other superficial notes. This is a stand-alone work that simply expresses the complexity of how I experience the world. Aeonic Fractalis Synesthete: Sensus Fractalis Aevum A self-portrait embodying the paradox of being both seer and seen, not a fixed self but a phase within a continuum, existence as recursive, fractal, and aeonic, and gives form to my unspoken experience.
