Today, I can announce we have secured a full independent grooming gangs inquiry across Keighley and the wider Bradford district. This is a watershed moment and marks a significant turning point in the pursuit of justice, truth and accountability for victims and survivors right across our area. It comes almost two decades after Anne Cryer first had the courage to raise this issue in Parliament. The inquiry will be fully independent of Bradford Council. It will focus on examining failures in local and national safeguarding systems, evidence handling, institutional accountability, and investigate the role of ethnicity, race and culture, and allegations of systematic abuse covered up by authorities. It will have statutory powers to compel witnesses and evidence. And where there is evidence of wrongdoing or cover-ups, it will be able to refer matters to the police. No one will be able to hide. When I first got elected, six and a half years ago, some of the first meetings I had were with local survivors like Fiona Goddard. Listening to their accounts of this crime, I was confronted with horrors that I will never forget. I made a promise to them then that I would do everything in my power to ensure their voices were heard and the truth would come out. Since then, I have consistently campaigned for this inquiry. I want to pay tribute to Fiona Goddard and the many others from across Keighley whom I have met - without them, none of this would be possible. Fiona is one of the bravest individuals I have ever met. Her extraordinary courage in speaking out and becoming a leading voice for survivors nationally should be an inspiration to us all - both locally in Keighley and across the UK. Now, after tireless campaigning and lobbying, their voices are finally being heard. I also want to recognise the work of leading child abuse lawyer David Greenwood, who has helped bring vital cases and evidence forward. He has been crucial to this campaign. Working with him, it has been clear for all to see that the scale of this issue across the Bradford District will dwarf that of the likes of Rotherham, Rochdale and Telford. At times, our calls for a full inquiry were dismissed, or rejected altogether. Yet despite this we refused to give up. For many years, political leaders from across our region, including the previous Bradford Council Leader Susan Hinchcliffe, the Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin and Deputy Mayor for Policing, Alison Lowe repeatedly rejected our calls for an inquiry. It was my firm view that these refusals mirrored the same patterns of denial seen in towns like Rotherham and Telford. There, decades of abuse were hidden in plain sight until independent inquires finally forced the truth into the open. It was deeply frustrating, but nevertheless welcome that it was only once a national inquiry was recommended by Baroness Casey in June 2025, supported by the Home Secretary, that these same local leaders changed their position, and supported our calls. Whilst no inquiry can undo the pain and suffering they have endured, it can help ensure the truth is uncovered and that those who were failed finally receive the answers they have spent years fighting for. And finally. One of the most difficult lessons of this entire process is that survivors have had to become campaigners themselves just to be heard. That should never have been necessary. It speaks to a deep and painful failure in Britain right now, and of the institutions at every level of the British state. Now we owe it to survivors, and to thousands across our area who suffered in silence, to see this through together. This inquiry must seek the truth - however horrific it may be. And bring about justice to those who have been failed for far too long. I will not stop until we achieve this. Robbie

🐑🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧 So good to attend the @royalwelshshow today. An absolutely amazing event, showcasing the very best of Welsh agriculture. Trademarked as Europe's largest agricultural show, it is a phenomenal engine for our the UK rural economy. The scale of the event is incredible, driving an economic impact in excess of £40 million across the Welsh rural economy and welcoming nearly 250,000 visitors over its four-day run. It was fantastic opportunity to speak with many farmers, growers and industry representatives about the importance of the UK’s food and farming sector, including driving growth in our rural economy, and how we can try and overcome the current financial challenges. The whole of our UK food and farming sector is vitally important and it is paramount that it is supported by all. That’s why the Conservatives are calling on the UK government to immediately abolish their plans to implement the fertiliser tax. Their new fertiliser tax could trigger severe crop reductions and create an unequal playing field for British agriculture. This looming Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will drastically hit farm margins at a time when the sector is already highly vulnerable. It will also lead to food inflation. The Family Farm and Family Business Tax was also raised on many occasions. The Conservatives will scrap this. Huge thanks to The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society for kindly inviting me along. An incredible day and great to speak with so many people who have such incredible willpower, determination and passion to drive our agricultural sector forward.

Speaking with Victoria Derbyshire on BBC Newsnight, I expressed by deep concern that this Labour government is considering releasing rapists, paedophiles and grooming gang perpetrators early from Prison, without them serving their full sentences. Many victims and survivors of some of the most horrendous sexual crimes have received letters from the government informing them that their perpetrators may be released from prison early. Just the possibility of it happening is already having a hugely damaging impact on those victims who have already suffered far too much. Trust in the state is being further eroded. Shame on this Labour government for even considering it. It must not happen. The government must reverse their decision.

🇬🇧🎶 What an incredible evening!! Silsden never disappoints! It was a real pleasure to open this year’s Silsden Proms on the Farm - one of the best-loved events in our calendar. Held on Jackson’s Field, the music, atmosphere and fundraising efforts were simply incredible. A massive thank you to Stuart Clarkson and William Jowitt supported by a brilliant committee of volunteers for organising a wonderful evening. We were treated to amazing performances by Hot Aire, the fantastic Tewit Silver Band and the night was closed off by the brilliant The Puretones. Huge well done to all who decorated their tents! - especially Cobbydale Airways! 🏆 All proceeds went to two amazing causes: Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and Silsden Methodist Church. Now in its fifth year held on Jackson’s Field, the organisers over the last four years raised an incredible £30,000 for these two great charities. Thank you to everyone who donated and bought raffle tickets, or just turned out to enjoy the evening. It was a brilliant event and great to get involved. The sun was shining as well!

🚒 This week in Parliament, I thanked our West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for their continued work to tackle a significant moorland fire near Silsden. At the height of the incident, 12 fire engines were in attendance with firefighters using large jets and Argo Cats to tackle the blaze across challenging terrain. We are ever indebted to them. 👍 The risk of wildfires on moorland will continue into the future as moorland land managers become more and more restricted on how they are able to manage heather. Last year, the government brought forward a ban of the controlled, rotational burning of heather on moorland, ignoring key advice given to them my the National Fire Chief’s Council, environmental scientists and conservationists. The National Fire Chief’s Council told the government in a letter that banning winter burns of heather to reduce the woody stock would “inadvertently lead to increased fire loads and the risk of larger, more intense wildfires.” Fire officers warned that limiting land managers’ ability to reduce fuel loads would compromise Fire and Rescue Services’ preparedness and response, stretching resources and increasing danger to firefighters and the public. The NFCC stressed that uncontrolled wildfires cause far greater damage, releasing more smoke and carbon across larger areas. Accompanied by environmental scientists and conservationists, they raised the point that such wildfire burns have a much greater negative impact on biodiversity and peat degradation. I called on the government to permit time for a debate so that these matters can be properly discussed and their decisions scrutinised.

Quite unbelievable. One of the very last acts of Keir Starmer as Prime Minister has been to reward one of the key blockers of an independent inquiry into grooming gangs and child sexual exploitation across Keighley and the wider Bradford District. Meet Alison Lowe. She is Labour’s Deputy Mayor for Policing for West Yorkshire. Keir Starmer made her a Baroness, placing her in the House of Lords, giving her the power to vote on all key national legislation going forward. For years, Alison refused to back our campaign to get an independent inquiry into grooming gangs across the Bradford District, and only seemingly changed her mind once Baroness Casey’s audit was released on the 16th June 2025. Alison failed to act when she held the power to do so on one of the biggest national scandals that has haunted communities like Keighley and the wider Bradford District for decades. And now Alison has been rewarded for it by the Prime Minister with a place in the House of Lords. It stinks. And it is nothing but a reward for failure and a huge smack in the face to all those victims and survivors who have campaigned for years to have their voices heard through an independent inquiry across the Bradford District.

🐄 🐑 🚜 Brilliant to spend the day at an incredibly busy @greatyorkshow - supporting our mighty food and farming sector. An incredible event, welcoming upwards of 150,000 visitors annually. Great to speak with many farmers, growers, stakeholders and industry representatives. Many hugely critical of this Labour government’s Farming Roadmap which was launched a couple of weeks ago - many referencing the complete lack of detail, and lack of ambition for the sector. One of the key talking points was fertiliser security, with many warning that they remain heavily exposed to global supply shocks as tensions in the Middle East continue. A new fertiliser tax could trigger severe crop reductions and create an unequal playing field for British agriculture. This looming Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will drastically hit farm margins at a time when the sector is already highly vulnerable. We are calling on the government to immediately abolish their plans to implement the fertiliser tax - and we will keep pushing this. Many also raised concerns regarding the government’s proposed focus on achieving full dynamic alignment with the EU - where the UK must follow EU rules - threatening regulatory independence in areas like gene editing and pesticides. Concerns were rightly raised around the risks of high compliance costs hitting the cost of production. As the heat continues, many also rightly demanding the government removes their ban of controlled rotational burning of heather on moorland and listen to the National Fire Chiefs Council - as without this methodology being able to be used, the risk of severe wildfires continues which is bad for biodiversity, ecology and our previous peatland. The Family Farm and Family Business Tax was raised on many occasions. The Conservatives will scrap this. Brilliant to see so much Agri innovation. It was an incredible day, and great to speak with so many people who have such incredible willpower, determination and passion to drive our agricultural sector forward. Err, Emma – you’ve only u-turned because public outrage and the @Conservatives raised the alarm. Natural England tried this last year and you did nothing until now. And whilst we’re examining your record – you’ve voted for the highest rural taxes on record, including the vindictive family farm and business taxes, overseen the highest number of farm closures, caused catastrophic cash flow crises with the SFI and BPS debacles, 2 pubs are closing every day and Labour’s “EU-reset” means handing over control of our food laws to the EU Commission and paying £billions to do so. Oh, and sewage is still swilling around.

How dare Labour MPs criticise farmers for coming to Parliament to tell them the hard truths about their vindictive tax. If these Labour MPs are genuinely serious about resetting their relationship with their rural constituents, they should start by apologising for the harm their government has caused them.  They should also call on their soon-to-be new leader to clear up the dirty mess of this Labour Government by axing the family farm tax and the family business tax.

THIS is just the short version of the list! Labour is obsessed with raising taxes. The decisions this government has made in the last two years has been hugely damaging for our food and farming sector. ….And they’re proud of it. Only the Conservatives will back the British countryside – starting by AXING the vindictive Family Farm and Family Business Taxes - and putting food security at the heart of all government policy.

Gosh! I am so incredibly proud of three young students from Riddlesden St Mary's Primary School & Nursery who travelled all the way to the Houses of Parliament to speak about the hugely positive impacts dance can have on health and wellbeing of our young people. At a packed out event in one of the very busy (and warm) Committee Rooms, we listened to a presentation from the Royal Ballet and Opera on how their free arts education programme, Create and Dance, has helped improve the wellbeing of pupils in primary schools across the Bradford District, including in Riddlesden. Accompanied by their Headteacher Linda Wright, it was brilliant to hear them all speak so confidently and enthusiastically about their enjoyment of dance and how their confidence, wellbeing and energy levels were all significantly improved. Plus - it was very clear, they all enjoyed it. I am so grateful them for travelling down to Westminster from Keighley to make their voices heard. It was such a special occasion and something I am sure they won’t forget for a while.

British farmers face monumental challenges. The last thing they need is more bureaucracy and higher taxes from Labour. They need a government that actually backs them. This is why the @Conservatives are working directly with farmers, experts and innovators to champion new ideas and build a resilient landscape. Because we want our farmers, food producers and environment to thrive, not just survive.

🙏 What an incredible & very moving way to start the day with the annual parliamentary prayer breakfast in Westminster Hall - this year with a theme of ‘Hope for the future’. It was powerful to stand alongside hundreds of Christian leaders and MPs, lifting our voices together in worship and prayer for the United Kingdom. Brilliant to be joined by Father Alex Crawford, the vicar of St Margaret's Parish Church, Ilkley. Together, with over 700 in attendance from across the country, we joined an uplifting service, full of fantastic hymns - including Amazing Grace, one of my favourites, celebrating this joyful occasion. RELEASE OUR MONEY NOW. Back in 2022, the Keighley Cougars were awarded over £2 million from the previous Conservative government via the Keighley Towns Fund to build a new stand, replacing the Danny Jones Stand which is in need of dire repair. That money was given to Bradford Council to administer via the Towns Fund. Since then, four years on, Bradford Council have constantly refused to award that money to upgrade Cougar Park. Last week, I again asked the government to put pressure on Bradford Council to unlock that money. The Cougars are at the heart of Keighley, and when sport does well, so does our town. Bradford Council need to release that money now.

🌾 @Groundswellaguk is a special event in the agricultural calendar where people gather to discuss ideas and innovation to build a resilient, profitable farming sector for generations to come. This year, we @Conservatives were out in force with @KemiBadenoch, the Shadow Farming Minister @_RobbieMoore and me joining the discussions and seeing new developments for ourselves. From advanced mapping by The Land App and pioneering work in precision breeding at The John Innes Centre, to Soil Capital’s work on regenerative agriculture, the wealth of ideas and technology on show was impressive. Against the backdrop of dreadful government policies, weather and red tape, the determination to find new solutions is clear. One of these innovators is Wolfe Bentinck of Only Farmers. He has set up an exciting new digital platform for British farms, enabling people to discover where they can book a break at a British farm, with more features planned soon to bring farmers together. And we @Conservatives are developing new ideas too in our policy renewal programme. Robbie and I set out our policy work at a session kindly hosted by the @CLAtweets. Many thanks to Gavin Lane and Cath Crowther for hosting us and to the audience for their thoughtful questions. It was a pleasure to catch up with farmers, landowners and food producers and hear about the investments they are making in regenerative farming to strengthen food security and long-term resilience, especially the exciting hazelnut farming ventures being led by @NuffieldFarming Tom McVeigh. Some also shared their views on the Government’s recently published Farming Roadmap, with many questioning whether it will be matched by effective delivery, particularly in light of the government’s negotiations with the EU. There is growing concern about the Government’s pursuit of full dynamic alignment with EU rules. The wholesale handing over of our food laws to the EU Commission goes far beyond a “trade deal”. Requiring the UK to follow regulations set in Brussels risks undermining our ability to shape policy in key areas such as animal welfare, food standards, gene editing and pesticides, while increasing compliance costs that will make British food production less competitive. The @Conservatives will continue to hold the Government to account while developing the long-term policies needed to ensure British farming can thrive, not simply survive. There was no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Huge well done to Mrs Janet Armstrong and the whole of the Oakworth Village Society for organising a great village event.
