In order to get the #PoetryCommunity fired up this summer, I have decided to revisit some prompts from the beginning. Join me if you dare in #PoetryRedux First up is one of my favorite creatives on the platform. Marla is a brilliant artist and host of the #SenseWrds prompt (currently on hiatus.) Her rules are simple: you get three words as a prompt; write whatever your muse whispers to you; but, you cannot use the given words. As with all of the prompts, be respectful.

Beneath the cool shade of A cypress by the pond's shore I watch the reflection of Gauzy white clouds floating Upon the still surface As a bullfrog keeps an eye On me and a fly skimming The surface of the water. Ripples blur the scene As she emerges from her swim, Beads of water falling like rain As I bask in the sunshine Of her smile. #SenseWrds 7 #PoetryRedux

#SenseWrds 6 #PoetryRedux I listen to the roaring sound, Salty waves crashing ashore In a violent clash of elements Only to form small streams Trickling downslope to return To gathered waters. Hot, salty rivers in The summer sun, My tears upon losing you.

#SenseWrds 5 #PoetryRedux In the stygian valley of despair, With jagged slivers of anguish Biting into my reaching hands As I try to claw my way free Up the steep hill of Sisyphus, I mourn the loss of your Love. You'll always be my forever. I just never realized How much that Would hurt.

#SenseWrds 3 #PoetryRedux As the dying gleeds of a bonfire Send sparks into the velvet night We count the stars above us While lying on a blanket by the dunes. The only sounds on the beach Are the whispers of waves Rolling ashore along the strand And my suddenly loud heartbeat. We kiss languidly, for there's no rush. The sunset is a faded memory And dawn is a dream for tomorrow. Tonight is for Love in the surf.

Such crystalline blue to make the trout Pause in their strenuous journey home To rest in a shady pool of calmness Where a boulder holds back the current. And I? I am but a simple shepherd Watching over my flock by a willow That chose to shed its tears Where the mountain stream Meets the summer sun And dream of Love.

Oh, to be a meadowlark high on a branch Watching the happy sprites dancing To the merry tune of a brook laughing Across the moss covered boulders.

╔ 💞 ═🌟🔥🌟 ═ 💞 ╗ #sensewrds 653 ╚ 💞 ═🌟🔥🌟 ═💞 ╝ it started slowly a word here, a phrase there, a snippet of a lyric, then suddenly it was the backdrop of my life colored in white and bluish-gray, old-fashioned and stuck in time, who knew her songs would become the autumnal ornaments I so desperately needed to reflect on life and love, sure it’s raw and bitter, now I embarrass myself by hyphenating so many -effing words writing in my journal but it reads so real, and finding a new love no longer feels like a long walk off a short pier, it’s worth your visit to the tortured poet’s department
