Treasure Planet (2002) reimagines Treasure Island as space opera & somehow makes it feel natural. Hand drawn animation blended with early CG, a rebellious Jim Hawkins & a surprisingly emotional arc with Silver. It deserved better than the box office it got.

For a brief moment, we had it all. Movies like The Prince of Egypt, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Sinbad. Other storytellers may have moved on, but I refuse. We haven't even BEGUN to mine this vein. Adventure, heroism, beautiful artwork. I'm not leaving.
