It was great to spend time with the Airmen assigned to CONR-1AF (AFNORTH and AFSPACE) at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, who are charged with one of the National Guard’s most critical missions — defending the homeland.
With the Air National Guard providing the vast majority of operational support to 1st Air Force, the Guard forms the backbone of our Nation’s continental air defense mission.
I was impressed by these National Guard and Active Duty Airmen’s professionalism, expertise and steadfast commitment. Their vigilance and readiness help protect the skies over the continental U.S. NORAD region every day and ensure we remain prepared to defend our Nation whenever called.

U.S. military: " U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed an additional round of strikes against Iran at 10 p.m. ET, July 14, hitting dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian coastal areas. U.S. fighter aircraft, drones, and naval vessels launched precision munitions against Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, and coastal defense systems during the seven-hour wave to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian crews. The strikes took place the same day U.S. forces resumed the naval blockade against vessels transiting to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas. The blockade went into effect at 4 p.m. ET today. U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief."

Just spoke in DC tonight with State FFA Officers gathered from every state in America!
My heart is so full thinking back to sitting in that same room with my Texas team 36 years ago. That was my very first time to DC (big stuff for a small town girl!). I remember being amazed and inspired and loving America and agriculture in full that trip.
The American dream comes full circle now addressing them as their 33rd Secretary of Agriculture.
To every young leader in the room: our nation needs your courage, your character, and your willingness to serve.
It was an honor to spend time with the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of American agriculture. We are in great hands. 🇺🇸💙

RIP. Deputy United States Marshal Drew Hanson,who gave his life in the line of duty, is the 54th officer lost in 2026.
Deputy United States Marshal Drew Hanson, 36, was murdered when he was shot and killed while serving an arrest warrant for a fugitive on Rutland Road in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Around 3:00 p.m., members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force and deputies with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office were attempting to arrest a man wanted for sexual battery. When deputies entered the home, they found the suspect barricaded in a bedroom. He fired at officers, striking Deputy Marshal Hanson.
The suspect was apprehended after a three-hour standoff.
Deputy Marshal Hanson had served with the United States Department of Justice - United States Marshals Service for six years. He previously served with the U.S Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Police Department, the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and the Gulfport Police Department.
He is survived by his wife and two children.

استقبل رئيس مجلس الوزراء، السيد علي فالح الزيدي، مساء أمس الثلاثاء بتوقيت بغداد، في مقر اقامته بواشنطن، وزير الخزانة الأمريكي السيد سكوت بيسنت، والوفد المرافق له.
وأكد السيد رئيس مجلس الوزراء، خلال اللقاء، أن العراق يقف اليوم أمام مرحلة مختلفة يسعى معها إلى بناء دولة قوية ذات سيادة، خالية من الفساد، وتتمتع باقتصاد قوي ومستدام، لافتاً إلى أن الحكومة وضعت في مقدمة أولوياتها مكافحة الفساد وحصر السلاح بيد الدولة، عبر حزمة من الإجراءات المهمة.
وبين سيادته أن العراقيين سيلمسون نتائج هذه الإجراءات خلال العام المقبل، الذي سيشهد تحسناً في العديد من الملفات، وفي مقدمتها الطاقة والاستثمار، بجانب تعزيز الاستقرار، مشدداً على أن الحكومة ماضية في تنفيذ عملية إصلاح وهيكلة شاملة للقطاع المصرفي وقطاع التأمين، إلى جانب الإصلاح الضريبي والكمركي، بما يسهم في بناء اقتصاد أكثر كفاءة واستدامة.
من جانبه، عبّر وزير الخزانة الأمريكي عن دعم بلاده لسياسة الحكومة العراقية، وتوجهها الجاد نحو الانتقال بالعلاقة بين البلدين من الوجود العسكري إلى الاستثمار وتنمية الاقتصاد وتطوير قطاع الأعمال، والمضي نحو تحقيق نمو اقتصادي حقيقي، من خلال الاستفادة المُثلى من الموارد والإمكانات الاقتصادية التي يمتلكها العراق.
وأكد السيد بيسنت استعداد الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لمساعدة العراق وتمكينه من تنفيذ خططه وبرامجه الاقتصادية، وتذليل العقبات التي تواجه التنمية، والعمل على وضع جدول زمني لدعم الاقتصاد العراقي وتعزيز مسارات الإصلاح الاقتصادي والمالي.
