@100_crown I'd have loved to have this conversation further by asking what libraries (if any) you used for the maze plotting in python and maybe I can provide a different method for benchmark, but I guess this conversation has been stretched long enough. It was nice convo though. Cheers 🥂

@Ade_Dero @tjsociety_ @100_crown I agree, we are definitely saying the same thing. My point was that it didn't matter if it was running C under the hood, in as much as the job gets done (in an efficient manner). Same point I believe the previous person was making. Cheers.

@_Teggyg_ @tjsociety_ @100_crown You're just going around in circles. The language is inherently slow that's why its best use case is being used as a C/C++ wrapper. Every AI/ML or vectorization library in python uses a more powerful language underneath. Python is loved for its syntax and simplicity, not speed.

@segun_os_ schedulers, data pipelines, etc... These can all be written in python. Fun fact: In most prod system where python is used, it is the control layer. It serves as a wrapper but this doesn't mean you're still not writing python syntaxes. CC: @100_crown

@segun_os_ which isn't true, at least if my experience in the field is anything to go by. I have asked him to clarify what systems he's talking of (so we don't conflate things) but till then, python is definitely (and more often than not) used in AI systems. Think of orchestrators, 👇

you're 100% right my guy. there's a reason no one uses python in the hot paths of low-latency high-speed computing systems. you'll mostly see c++, rust, and in some very rare cases java and c#, but never python.
Josiah@100_crown

If you haven't felt the speed limitation of python, then I am happy for you. You've not worked on anything with sufficient mathematical complexity. There's a reason why although it is used for also all of AI research, it is barely used for AI systems in production.

@Ade_Dero @tjsociety_ @100_crown Yes,Python may be slower at the interpreter level, but in production it’s often used as a control layer while the heavy computation runs in optimized C/++ underneath. You’re still writing Python, but the performance-critical work isn’t actually executed by the Python interpreter.

@tjsociety_ @100_crown I don't get your point. Python is a beautiful language. I use it heavily too. My only point is that it is inherently a slow language and you've agreed with that.

@100_crown Hmmm, can you share your maze function code (in both python and java)? Also, share your maze size. I just wrote a maze function in python with a maze size of 400 by 400 and it ran in about 60ms. I want to ensure my benchmark aligns with yours.

@100_crown Context: I have worked on a ton of AI systems/pipelines (and in teams) where the primary language used for building was python. I have also worked on AI servers where we had to opt for a different language, not because of speed but because of dependency mgmt and type.

@100_crown Curious... Why do you think it is barely used in AI systems (prod)? Follow up, what sort of systems are you talking about? (I'm genuinely curious)

So are you saying if I answered sister, aunt or any feminine relation tag, that's internalized misandry? I don't even know how you guys come up with these "lazy" analogies.
