I am sick and tired of listening to the BBC criticising Keir Starmer. Hardly anything said about the vile Trump or Farage. There are malevolent forces at work here to undermine and control and the idea of Farage or Lowe both fascists is frightening.

The last Tory Govt. was so weak that it effectively let national abortion policy be set by an MP so intellectually deviant that she thinks women can have penises & that being arrested for praying has nothing to do with actual praying, For this alone, they can never be forgiven.
stellacreasy@stellacreasy

no they have been arrested for where they pray, not praying. Buffer zones also ban shouting, leafleting, trying hand out plastic foetus'es, posters too. In a specific location. I know you may not agree with abortion, but you can't rewrite the location element of this no matter how hard you try.

According to ONS Census 2021 data for England & Wales, 51.4% of working-age Muslims are employed—meaning ~48.6% are not (41.9% economically inactive + 6.7% unemployed), aligning with the 49% figure. On jobs dependent on open immigration: public-sector translation/interpreting is a direct example. ~80% of UK language service demand comes from migration/refugee needs (NHS, courts, benefits, UKVI). Courts alone logged 150k+ requests in recent years; LinkedIn lists "interpreter" as a fast-growing role. Total such jobs remain small—low thousands of mostly freelance positions vs. UK's 34M employed. Broader analyses (Migration Observatory, OBR) show immigration's net economic effects are minor (<1% GDP), with low-skilled inflows often creating service demands while high-skilled add fiscal surplus.

Forty years ago, punk rock bands like the Sex Pistols ("Holidays in the Sun") and The Dead Kennedys ("Holiday in Cambodia") mocked privileged, brain dead leftists who fawned over communist dictatorships Now we have the putrid Kneecap doing exactly that in Cuba — enjoying a cheap holiday in other people's misery They're not rebels — they're the most conformist lot ever

Leaders can manage without charisma, though it helps. Starmer’s qualities (& weaknesses) are nor cherished in a performative era. Starmer stayed in Corbyn’s shadow cabinet because it was a necessary ordeal to become PM. That’s politics.
tom chapple@tomchapple1

@michaelwhite Charisma is overrated. Too many journalistic hacks interpret it as bonhomie. Not being interested in politics, I saw Starmer on BBC Parlaiment taking apart David Davies in 2017 and fell in love. Maybe I was just shocked that an intelligent person was in Corbyns cabinet.

Rupert Lowe MP is ordered to do jury service despite being an MP. This could force him to be absent from the House of Commons for an unspecified period. The judges name is His Honour Judge Rupert Lowe the Resident Judge, Gloucester Crown Court ! You could not make this up !

We have a Batley school teacher still in hiding because members of your faith thought a picture of Muhammad shown in an RE lesson was “offensive”. I would sit this one out, Nazir.
nazir afzal@nazirafzal

If your Faith feels undermined by chocolate box branding, diverse TV adverts or 8 mins of public prayer at a 2 hour interfaith event, then it isn’t your Faith under attack, it’s your sense of control, your discomfort with difference, and your understanding of what Faith really is
